Collins Hill Cadence

Pretty nice. If nothing else it's easy to follow, but it's also pretty driving. I think I'm too "old" to get the vocalizations, though...I'd never let a unit get away with that!

"The Hill representin' fool"

The whole band does it for the goodness.... Even with Spirit (Drum and Bugle Corps), the rest of the Corps did "Holla, holla, Holla" during parades. 😀

Fairly simple cadence...although I think I was spoiled as our HS drum section was nuts, one of the best around. Numerous members went on to DCI and teaching

Goodness? What goodness?!

"Holla" isn't so bad. Depending on the band and situation, I might let that slide at a football game, parade or rehearsal, although never at a competition. But fool...Even though "fool" might be acceptable slang, they are pretty much calling anyone within earshot a fool - parents, children, judges, competing bands, etc. We'd put a stop to that but quick!

Cadence off and on is a single beat thing on a snare. This cadence is play during football games for the fans and back to the band room. So, no, it will not be played at either BOA Atlanta or BOA Indy.

You just use a tap while entering the competition field? You whacky southerners 🙂

Well, good luck in Indy (and Atlanta, too)! What is your program?

If you get the opportunity to go to that Student Leadership Workshop with Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, definitely jump on that. Dr. Tim does awesome programs.

Occasionally. I don't think we did this last competition. I have doing so many band videoes, I forget who does what now.

And hey, not everyone is the Cavies (fav off with the bass cadence).

I do the video, not the program. 😀

:thumbsup:Hey I went to Collins Hill, class of 2000 (I lived in the Richland Community). I live in Dunwoody now though, pretty cool.

I like it. I has good progression and it would be easy to follow. When I was in HS, I attended the UW-Badger Marching Band camp, and they had some crazy cadences. I think I got more of a workout at that camp than I did playing on the football team in HS.

OH you film the bands? I just kind of assumed you were in the band 🙂

Want to hear some real drumcorps material? Google Blue Devils.

They are all pretty amazing, but I'm from Cadets country, so I have to recommend them. 😀

Last DCI show I went to, this woman sitting next to me had never been before and asked why everyone boo'ed the Blue Devils. Haha!

Hmmmm... real Drum Corps and Blue Devils in the same sentence. Whoda thunk? signed... Cavies, Cadets, and Bluecoats (the boo'ed) fan - but my favorite music this year was from Southwind.

Oh, for those who do not know what drum corps is.... Division I top-tier corps are 135 members max including guard. Those 100 horns, drums, and front ensemble are louder than the 400 any college puts on the field. I know, as I have to record one of them and put -20dB attenuation on my mic in... 😀 Best description I have heard, "It's the NFL of marching band."

Considering the tour schedule and the training program, that's not far off the mark.

jzero already knows this...

For Spirit, my daughter moved in to camp on the last day of school. The practiced 8:30a to 10:00p for 4 weeks with lunch and dinner breaks. On the road from about 23rd of June until Aug. 13th. Perform about 5-6 days a week in a different city every day. The corps performs at night; gets on the bus around 11p; sleeps on the bus to the next site. They sleep on a gym floor, but only if the bus ride was less than 8 hours. If it is about 8 hours, straight into practice when they arrive on site. Practice most of the day with lunch and dinner break. Go to the performance. Repeat. They get some time off during a week to do laundry or go to Wal-Mart, but that is not a regular thing.

We had four tour buses, two tractor trailers, and a Suburban with a trailer. I got to go on the road for 8 days doing video this year. What a grind!

Ebonics don't belong in band

Yea, but "We are all present and account ourselves quite well, thank you" just doesn't have any flow to it. 😀

I don't think you need to say either. It looks/sounds unprofessional...just speaking from experience
