I talk to some people and they just can't wait to get out of high school and move on to college. For me high school kicked so much @ss. Had lots of friends, very little responsibility, loads of time, garage band, nice car, and the work was far from strenous. I've been here 3000 miles from home for 4 months now and I don't see what is so great about it. Yeah it's nice to be out on your own and college is a nice challenge but if I had the choice to go back to my high school days i would in a second. Anyone else feel this way, or are people generally happy to leave for college?

High school could not be left far enough behind.

You have the "high school was the best years of my life" syndrome. :)

Act fast before it's too late.

Yep.

College is better, but the real world is best.

some classes in highschool are a frustrating waste of time. Too much information is covered in history for us to completely remember all of it. I learned all my english and literature in grade school. We spend an hour in math learning something that can be learned in 5 minutes.

But on the other hand, more time = more time for sex/alcohol

Getting your education is a growing experience....you'll find that you won't meet as many "NEW" people when you get out in the working world. Live it up while your there...the women only get older as time goes on. (unless you're like me and work at a University :D)

High school was the worst four years of my life (aside from middle school). I was suspended for "hacking" the "security" system on the school network, I was reported to the police for "hacking" our school band's webserver, and I was reported to the police yet again for "threatening the life of a teacher." I love college because if you don't want the teachers to know you, they won't. In high school, they're in your face whether you like it or not.

High school is the one thing in my life that I have never lived to appreciate after I lost it or went past it. If I relived my life and could skip high school, I would. The one that I would really enjoy again is elementary school. Oh Lord! You don't wanna know. . . . LOL! :D

Thanks for trying to persuade me, though. However, I'll be content with college life.

Just to add my experience:

High School sucked.

College wasn't all that great.

Everything since has been pretty good.

High school sucks.. didn't like any of the crowd at my school, it was 2000+ students and you could easily have a class without knowing anyone.

sucked royally overall.... for the main reason that i hate school.

Yeah, i guess i'm just living in the past, I need to find some people around here to play music with or something. It just seemed so much more laid back in high school; do i go home and sleep after class or hang out with people vs. do i work on calc or physics. Does it get better after the first year? I mean, does the wanting to go back to the old life go away eventually?

Only if you find new things to enjoy. You can't mope around about the past the rest of your days.

High School is fun but I am honestly just wasting time my senior year. My classes are pointless and I learn nothing from them. I can't wait to move on.

High school sucked. I much prefered the added freedom and responsibility of college. But I think it all "evens out" in the end. Some people loved HS but didn't like college, and others hated HS but loved college.

I never miss anything 'bout HS, but I do miss college sometimes. Although, IMO, the "real world" has to be my favorite overall. I've had some sh*tty times and some good times but it's complete freedom to live yer dreams. :) Can't beat that.

I enjoyed high school a lot. It was super easy with lots of free time to go do what ever. College has been ok so far. I think it will get better once I get out of the dorms, they aren't so fun.

I have so many memories of funny or dumb sh1t we did in high school...doing negative work..copying almost every hw, having a girl tell me what the reading was about then bs'ing an A essay when she'd get a B...
I have tons of memories of college too...and I'll tell tons of stories about college...but it seems I always keep telling high school stories...
I think its more the people I hung out with and how there was never any BS w/ them...we'd do anything to entertain ourselves...whereas in college theres a lot of BS that goes on...it's like i have to go home and hangout w/ my friends just to have a buffer zone
Actually as of right now I've never looked more forward to christmas break and going home and hanging out w/ my old friends 1 last time before we all graduate college...

My roommate summed it up best..."I don't get it..you always drink so much when you're back home but it seems like you never drink here"
Its the people I'm with down at home and the fact that theres never any crap...we all have a good time....it's not like that in college...it's like my college friends are too mature to be able to drive around and film drunk movies...

I think it's the people you know. In high school, you generally know everyone. You don't necessarily speak with our associate with everyone, but you've at least heard of the majority of people. In college, you're prolly going to end up at graduation saying to yourself "who the hell is that weird looking bastid?" to about 90% of the people there. Out of my entire university, I know maybe 100-200 people total, including faculty, staff, etc. I hang out with about 20 or so on a regular basis. My graduating class is supposedly 1000+.

I think it's just a different environment that people tend to want/crave. I loved High School. Somehow, I was elected treasurer of everything and controlled ALL the money that the clubs/student gov't had. (I was treasurer of things like the hispanic and french honor society without being a member of those clubs!!! It was because people realized that, as their treasurer, I could generally get money transfers and fund requests done a lot faster than if they elected one of their own). I look at my high school now, and I'd prolly stir up lots of trouble because of things they do that I disagree with.

Just watch out for "Al Bundy syndrome." If HS was "best time of yer life" then, IMO, you're having a pretty sh*tty life. But Al Bundy Syndrome can only start to set in by yer late 20's/early 30's (if yer still college age then yer safe).
