If I want to go to transfer to a college after 2 years, do I have to go to a community college? or can I go to a regular university and transfer out after 2 years?

it doesnt matter what you transfer out, only what you transfer in.

like the college you go to in 2 years may require you to take 80 hours at their school, when you may have 60 already. basically screwing you out of 20 hours (just made up numbers). you can go to a university or community college, just has to be the same classes and accredited.

i think that's right :)

Any accredited institution classes will transfer. Also, some classes from non-accredited places will transfer. All of that depends on the university to which you will be transferring. Check their policies and meet with a transfer specialist/advisor from the uni to which you will transfer if you want to plan out your academic track. It really depends on the school but usually, each class is transferred separately based on equivalency tables.

Cheers ! :)

You can transfer whenever you want. Most colleges require you to complete a certain number of credits at their institution for your degree though, so as has already been said, they may screw you out of some credit. I transfered to EMU after 2 years in hell (read: New Hampshire).

SAT score has to be high enough to get into the college you want to transfer too.
Also you need to check whether or not the new college will accept all of the credits from the first school, this is especially important for classes you would rather not have to retake.
A lot of colleges in different states won't accept credits from other states.

EDIT: I don't think what I typed makes any sense, sorry. I would retype it but I'm not sure what I was trying to say.

I too want to transfer for fall 2002 (wanted spring, but apparently things have to be done well in advance). But I don't want to transfer if I will have to repeat too many classes by having to fulfill a different set of requirements. I guess I will have to talk to counselors in the schools I am applying to to see what credits I can keep and what I can take over again.

The school I am looking to apply to looks at high school transcript until you have 30 college credits (about 1 year), then they will look at your college grades. As for SAT, i dont know.

Any other transferring experiences?
