1. You have asian parents
2. Cornell is a drop-out school
3. You aren't working hard enough
4. Suicide is the cheap way out

Just work a little bit harder to get better grades. You shouldn't be sad if you currently have bad grades. If you have an upward swing in your GPA it replaces bad grades :) You go to Cornell (based on your profile), you're already ahead of many people!

Well it sounds like you are just a lazy good for nothing that has had everything given to you with no responsibility on your part.
There are people that would actually give up a body part just for the opportunity that you are getting.
Your crying and whining here will do you no good.

stop fscking crying. If you hate it, drop out and go to a state school and pay for it yourself. Your parents are spending 120k on you. They could buy a nice sports car for that amount. No one else in the world would spend 120k on you vs. getting a sports car.

when life gets tough the smart ones quit...

NOT!

pull your head out and start using it, if you were smart enough to get into a 40k a year school you should be smart enough to stop whining about your parents and do something about you being a screw up. only losers take the easy way out and don't try...

ok ok, my parents are not paying 40k a year. that's just the tuition. They are paying about 20k and i am paying about 3k. Which is about 80% of what i make this summer. they are also not rich, just your regular parents. It was a mistake to apply to Cornell early, i didnt even visit. and now i am stuck there. my grades arent that bad, a little below 3.0. They know where i stand and pushes me really hard. ithaca isnt really a good place either, afterall i lived in new york for 7 years before that. i couldnt adjust to anything. i know i said there were parties every week, but i didn't actually go to them. when i did go, it wasn't that great. the girls are all snobby and sh!t. so i didnt like any of them. i couldn't get myself to study or anything. i just slept a lot. didnt go to some classes because all i do is sleep anyway.

second year is about to start and i am getting ready to go up. my parents are about to find out my real grades. so i am fvcked. i know i will do a lot better second year around, but not before a 2-day talk with my parents. and i dont think i can survive that.

Well, you need to be honest with them. Don't be a dork and try to BS your way out. As you said, your parents aren't rich so they will require an explanation on why you didn't do that well. I had a 3.02 when I graduated from college, so I had my share of bad and good classes. By far, it gets a lot easier as you go on.

As for sleeping a lot and missing class, you will need to fix that yourself because that is your own fault. Either you aren't motivated to go to class or something else. As I said though, be honest.

I hear ya man... It's not so much college life that suks for me, just all the damn paperwork and miscommunication and this college sucks and doesn't offer any good classes. Not to mention the classes they do offer usually only have one scheduling, and of course they clash with the other classes I want to take... CCs suck

But jesus man.. your parents are paying for it? I wish my parents would pat for my college tuition. I pay for everything of mine almost. Tuition, Gas, insurance, clothes.... And I make fricken minimum wage! Listen to everyone else man. Study, go to classes, don't get hammered every night and get your grades up so your parents don't get pissed at you for wasting their hard earned money.

maybe this is a thread hijack but can someone explain a bit how the US college system works??

I read about GPA and other stuff and I have absolutely no idea what you guys are talking about
like the dude who started this thread is saying that his grades are not very good but he's starting his second year. How can you start the next year when your grades suck??

and wtf 40k a year?????? :Q

you all must have uberrich parents, higher education seems to be uberexpensive in the US or am I dead wrong??
are you guys all in debt when you finish college????

thx

GPA stand for grade point average, in most places a 4.0 = A, 3.0 = B, 2.0 = C, and so on, the actual percentage values to get those grades varies. College is typically pretty expensive, but there is rather large amount of scholarship/financial aid out there (although it is much harder for certain groups of people to get that). Colleges are also somewhat like businesses here, so as long as you keep paying and you're not failing all of your classes, they'll keep you enrolled.
