i know you already said ramen, but let me go further with that thought:
ramen goes with a lot... if you or someone you knows has a club membership to sams or costco, go with them.
they have great frozen bags of veggies, different types and style of veggies. get a bag of those plus a ginormous bag of indvidually frozen chicken breasts.
they will last you a while and all you have to do is experiement with different types of sauses and spices with the ramen and chicken/tuna and veggies.
its great AND super cheap and fast to make.

Ramen noodles
1/4" cut Celery
1/4" cut Carrots
2 Hard boiled eggs cut in 1/4" slices
Chicken Broth
Pepper/Salt

You have a kickass soup thats good for days. You can make a weeks worth for like $4.00

i vote for the pasta, it costs a little more initially, but i spent maybe 10 bucks getting enough pasta to feed me for a week... so not to bad.

day old bakery is a blessing, it really isn't "bad" yet but it's not good enough to sell as new... i got a bunch of peta bread from there for 50cents! (like 6 circles of the stuff) and going to stuff it with tuna.. mmm .mmmm.. best of luck 😛

just buy generic or store-specific brands, thats what I do at walmart and I spend around $35-40 for atleast 3 weeks worth of food. It all tastes the same to me...

Go to Wendys, get ketchup (catsup) packets, some crackers. Add hot water. Make tomato soup. 🙂 Bill Cosby (I think) also talked about making toothpaste sandwhiches - I wouldn't think those would be that cheap, but if you've already got it in the house.....

In my poor days I'd buy a loaf of bread, some smooth peanut butter (it spreads on thinner) and eat bread and peanut butter sandwiches.

Buy a bag of potatoes and a dozen eggs. Chop up a potato (grate, dice, whatever), fry in a little oil, when crispy on the outside and cooked on the inside, scramble a couple of eggs on top of the potatoes. Egg & potato, Good, EXTREMELY cheap, filling.

Also, I was just at Target, they have Kraft Mac/cheese 10-pak plus 2 free, for $4.99 with a dollar-off coupon on it. Makes a nice break from ramen.

5-6 a day should be quite easy to pull off. You have to look at it more of 35-42 a week. 🙂

For that much, you could spend about 5 bucks on a store brand cereal and a gallon of milk, and have a a decent breakfast, or take some cereal to work as a snack.

And if you want it a bit sweeter, just swipe some sugar packets from some restaurant and use those 🙂

If you get sick of just water you could buy a box of tea bags... about 50/$2 or so. Make a cup of hot tea, then pour it into a cup filled with ice and let it sit for about 30 seconds and you now have iced tea 🙂 Again, sugar packets could sweeten it up if you want. 🙂

Maybe if you want spoil yourself you could buy a box of those simple popsicles. My friends keep a box in their freezer, it's like 50 of them for 4 bucks when they are on sale.

Overall you'll find you'll save TONS when you do the cooking as opposed to eating single-serving items.
Buy big on non-perishable or long lasting items and stick to off-brands because they don't taste THAT much different.

Good luck, and keep us updated on how it's going. 🙂
