It appears Barney's customers don't mind, if it's been going on 20 years and the store is still in business.
Yup, if Barney's was so bad for 20 years, they would be out of business by now.
Typical of faux outrage and rage. Aaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggg.
haha, okay.

4)"erybody is racist". How cute, you said "erybody" instead of "everybody". I get it...you know, cause ebonics and you're obviously trying to mock someone.
it you think about it from teh managers side it's understandable that he called. here he had a kid come in who is not acting or dressed as the normal clients. he purchases a $350 item (really a belt? he gets a belt? what the fuck.) sure everything goes through.
he calls the police to let them do a investigation. NOw it gets silly. the police fucked up.
Though the kid is a idiot. a $350 belt!? how often do people really care about the belt? get a nice shirt, nice pants or such. a belt? ghhhhh!
most expensive belt i have ever owned is $14 heh
Such a perfect example, and I love the irony. It was just a typo. But of course, to you race brigaiders, EVERYTHING bad is racist. EVERYTHING that holds you back is due to racism. EVERYTHING you don't like is somehow attributed to racism.
You seriously need to take off your racial blinders. Your life would be easier if you cared about (and looked out for) society as a whole rather than simply the people you percieve are in "your group" simply due to their skin color. Which, BTW, is racist in itself.
Buying a purse is suspicious too, then?
First of all, I knew you weren't mocking me because I do not speak like that. You were just trying to be cute, it wasn't a typo...unless you truly don't know how to spell.
I have never been held back in life by anything, not by people like you, not by idiots in some store assuming I can't afford to shop there. If somebody wants to act stupid, I just keep it moving.
I also don't need you giving me advice about how much "easier" my life would be. You don't know a thing about me or my life...so its really interesting that you are acting as if you have some great impact on it. This is the internet, bro. You don't have any influence on anything I've got going on over here.

My mother works for a living, she's a single parent....but, my mom cannot control what I spend my money on. I have a job. I'm a big girl, I can make decisions for myself, if I wanted to spend $1200 this month building computers..what is she gonna say? What can she say other than she things it was too much? I buy expensive things, she tells me that was dumb..but it was my money.
How do you know his mother is not the same?
He's a grown man and has a job. If he is willing to work and save up for a stupid belt, thats his prerogative. After all, this is his money.
He bought an expensive belt and she didn't publicly shame him...so, they must be on welfare? What?
The difference is he still lives with his family, who are apparently sucking off of our dear leader's handout program paid for by those of us who work hard all week.
.
IF you were in a situation where you were on food stamps, taking the handout tax deductions, and getting a welfare check..... And your able-bodied adult son who lived in your house went out and bought a $350 belt..... You wouldn't see that as a problem?
Perhaps that's an indicator of why you feel the way you do about many situations. Because that is simply beyond screwed up, in many ways, that those of us who work hard are paying for this family to exist while one of the members of the household is out dumping $350 on a belt.
Both are common items for return fraud.
Buying a purse is suspicious too, then?
Not really. It seems many buy expensive purse's. a buddy of mine's wife buys coach purses all the time. i asked once how much $200 each (or so) and she has like 12 of them.
then found out many of my friends wife's do that! i have no idea why. they don't look any different then the $12 one my daughter has. Though the one lady gave my daughter 2 old coach purses she didn't like when she found out my daughter carried a purse.
belts are different. how often do you even notice one?
but anyway i do understand WHY barny's called. i don't blame them. I DO blame the cops

Waggy, I asked about the purse because they also called the cops on a woman after buying an expensive handbag.
Same scenario.
Since you are trying to rationalize buying a belt to being a red flag. I asked, what about a purse?
My point is, it doesn't matter if the kid went in there and bought a $2,000 pair of socks. If they didn't have a legitimate reason to suspect someone of fraud, they shouldn't have called the police on anybody. If they had a reason, then they need to speak up. As it stands now, they look like jerks who racially profiled two people. If they have a different story, they should speak up instead of acting like it was all on the police and that they didint call anyone.
If they don't want to talk about it, fine. Pay the people the hush money, then.
Then Barneys should have no problem having the person who called the police explain why they assumed the transaction was fraudulent. What they are doing instead is pretending that they had no problem with these two individuals shopping in their store and that it was the psychic NYPD that assumed they were fraudsters.
I suspect both will receive a pay off, Jay "Z" will continue to selling goods at Barney's, Barney's will not be affected by these 2 incidents, the sun will set tonight, and rise again tomorrow.

bolded is wrong. IF you are suspicious call the cops. Though the store should Say yes we were suspicious ti was fraud. They do not need apologize for what happened after. the store did no wrong (well besides lieing about it). They did not hold them until cops got there (at least from what i understand) they just called in a suspicious person. totally legal and right. The store should not be held liable for what happened in any way
THE cops on the other hand made a huge mistake. they fucked up and i hope the kid sues the shit out of them for it.
In theory I agree with you but it was the weekend and the activists have a head start.
I imagine Barney's is running statements through a PR firm and legal counsel to make sure they don't dig the hole deeper.
yeah i bet this i what is going on. though i think how they are going about is worse then just admitting they called
haha, okay.
If the clerk suspected his ID was fake, he/she should have declined the transaction, he/she could have also called the manager over to assist...and if they REALLY thought he was trying to fraud the store, they could have called security right then and there.
They should have? Interesting - I would be curious to know where you got a copy of their rules and procedures for handling fake IDs. It would not be unusual for a retail store to have have certain caveats and situations that would lead to undertaking action only once the person leaves the store
So, was a Barney's employee involved or not? Last I heard, Barney's claimed that no employee was involved in singling out the customer.
Face it OP, I think people are just trolling you because you overreact a bit too much.
Barneys New York typically does not comment on pending litigation. In this instance, we feel compelled to note that after carefully reviewing the incident of last April, it is clear that no employee of Barneys New York was involved in the pursuit of any action with the individual other than the sale
No Macy's employees were involved in the detention or questioning of a black actor who claims he was stopped because of his race while shopping at the flagship Manhattan department store, Macy's officials said Sunday.
If they thought the ID was fake, why wouldn't they decline the transaction?
The police said they did not act independently in either situation. They said the store called them.
Setups? Pranks?
Can anybody call in and say they are from Barney's?
And get away with it twice?
