I am new here, relatively speaking.

College question:
University of Minnesota in Twin Cities vs. Boston University for undergrad.

Which one to pick? It's for a friend of mine. Let's just say she can afford either one.

I'm thinking of transferring to BU or maybe Northeastern next year (both of which I got into when first applying to colleges; I chose Cornell instead). I love Boston, and have lived in either Mass or RI all my life. Boston's a cool place to live. My aunt actually just retired from BU about two months ago, and she loved it there. Course that was as faculty, not as a student.

I go to northeastern and its coo. Good thing is in the fall we're switching to semesters so we'll be like every other school and no more quarter junk. If you like the idea of co-op and working 6 months of the year northeastern is great, if you aren't really interested in co-op I would stay away.

She intends to study business.

I would think there would be greater contacts for internships as well as perspectives for international business at Boston - that and the twin cities are too cold.

I go to BU....

Never been to U of M, but I'm sure it's not as cool as Boston. Good school, great city.

That's about all I can say.

Important issues might be your friend's attitude about things - Boston will definitely have a more metro feel then Minneapolis does. How often does she want to visit home? From Minnesota she could probably visit a few times, from Boston it would be a hassle to go to missouri outside of Christmas and summer breaks - and maybe not even both of those.

How exactly did she pick these two schools? They seem quite different...
