Did anybody here apply to college they had no intention of going to but just to see if they will get accepted?
 
Nope, got my ACT scores - top 5% of all the students score-wise, but my GPA at the time was a ~2 (out of 4), so I settled on a state school.

Kinda ridiculous the big-name schools sending me crap just because I scored so high on the ACT (and prolly because I'm from one of the best school districts in the US and I'm a minority), but kinda failed to notice my GPA . . ..
 
No, I already planned on going to UND so that's the only place I applied. I could have easily gotten into a "better" college, since I was WAY over the minimum standards to go here, but they offer what I want at the best possible price & it's not far away from home.
 
Yea. I applied to Princeton, because I was told they hardly ever accept anyone from the South. They accepted me. I'd never go there though, Purdue all the way. 🙂

apply a few as safety school. then you can compare the financial package they give you.
I was gonna apply to that college and they had their deadline on march 1st. all my applications had the deadline on jan 15th. when the time approached, I said screw it, I knew that I wouldn't go there at all.

Also applied to a few as safeties - SUNY Binghampton and SUNY Albany. Ended up going to Washington University.
 
I applied to UW, WWU, USC, UCSD, UCSB, and UC-Berkeley, only Berkeley rejected me.

I still wish I'd tried for a full-ride at USC. 😱

Oh well, maybe I'll teach there after I get my LL.D.

Not there yet. I was supposed to be there this semester, but I had to take a little break to make some money so I could afford it. I'll be moving up there in late May/early June.
