i just graduated, first 2 years I lived on campus (something everyone should experience) then my last 2 years I lived in an off campus apartment about .5mile away from campus. Dorms are a blast, I missed them so much when I moved to an apartment...

living at home is comfortable and convenient, also no rent etc.

never have a class earlier than 8 am and ends later than 5:30 pm. sometimes i do have to leave at like 8-9 pm because of tests but they are rare. i use public transportation so i can just take a nap onboard. been doing this for over 2 years now.

I lived in the dorms for the first two years, now I am living in my frat, definitely better than the dorms because there are no ridiculous rules like check in, and no alcohol and other mood stimulants, its great. The dorms are cool, but you have to have a roommate which sucks because they might go through your stuff, or puke on your sheets, or invite really ugly girls over and fight with them, then have sex while you are in the room, or smoke weed and not offer you any, or play loud music while your studding, or bother the hell out of you when you are trying to sleep, or just in general get on your nerves. Don't know if you will be lucky enough to have a roommate such as that. However living the frat is great, parties, beer, all night crazy beer pong, sorority girls wanting to sleep with you specifically since your a frat boy etc, its the best thing about college.

This will be my 2nd year living in the dorms, loved it last year. Next year I think me and some friends are going to get a house or apartment.

strange i feel the total opposite.. i live 10 minutes away but i still live on campus in an apt.

its more convienient becasue i am on campus, and can wake up literally 20 minutes before my class.. . if i forgot something i could run back to my apt.
plus after a long day waiting 2 hours to get home... sucks

Great idea for spreading STDs, objectifying sex and girls, thinking you're cool/wasting money for joining a frat, and spending your college years in an irresponsible blue because you've been convinced that this is the right thing to do and you might regret it when you're 50 years old. Wrong again!

P.S. (I'm 20, used to be in a frat, realized it was a waste of time / money very quickly, and now have a 20 minute commute to school and have a healthy, loving fiancee and more money/time to boot.)

yes living on campus definitely has advantages

i have to drag all the books/materials needed for the day around the campus the entire day. if i forget to bring something i'll just have to find alternatives. there's no good place to rest during breaks (napping on your arm in the library sucks). and even though i can sleep on the bus/train, public transportation still sucks at least i'm half asleep and can ignore it. so i look forward to getting home, once i get home everything is great.

Stayed in the dorms throughout my college career, both undergrad and grad. Since I decided that having a car would be too much hassle/expense, it was far more convenient to stay close to campus.
