Football is in the air. NFL training camps start this week. Media days for the ACC and SEC are this week with College football camps opening up next week.

So, why will your team (College or NFL) be better or worse this year and why?

My Team: Alabama

Better automatically because Saban and his staff >>>>>>>>>>> Mike Shula and his staff. Also returning almost all offensive starters including a QB that broke passing records as a sophomore first year starter. The defensive front seven is questionable so hopefully the new offensive staff will be able to put the ball in the endzone a bunch to take pressure off the defense (unlike last year).

steelers: Worse (sadly, no playoffs, maybe even a losing season)
Penn State: Better (top 10, probably around 8ish)

colts: worse - missing a few players from last year. some i'm not sad to see go (tarik glenn). it will be hard to win a superbowl again.

ND: worse - i don't know why i'm saying this but i am. could be the wide receivers, the quarterback, the lack of defense...who knows. it will be a fun game against USC though.

NFL- Colts: really tough to have a better year

College- Tennessee: This should be a much better season. While our WR's are new (do have a couple of JUCO though) we have a Sr QB and good running backs. Some of our new Freshmen will have to step up but word is they are amazing. Godd or bad, our season should be decided by week 3.

Packers: I think we'll be a little better, but no way they take over the division from the Bears. I'll say 9-7.
Wisconsin: Depends on our QB situation, Tyler Donovan came in and got 2 wins last year (1 @ Iowa) so if he continues success we will be better and may compete for the Big 10 title. Our secondary will be really strong again as will our receivers, plus returning PJ Hill.

And hopefully Chris Capps will be on the bench.

Michigan: of course they will win it all this year, overshadowing last year's controversies :p Still... no playoff system until 2011

Lions: can only get better... :D

Vikings and Gophers, both worse both for the same reasons, rookie QB's, inexpirence at coach, and too many holes at key positions.

Ravens: Better year. Our offense is going to be better now that we have McGahee. Also look for improvements with Demetrius Williams. We'll be running more of a pasing offense in the 2 and 3 receiver formatations, as we move away from our i-formation offense.

Our defense should be just as good, but I doubt if we will have improvements here. The loss of Adalius Thomas was rough, and Jarret Johnson certainly is no replacement for him.

On special teams, look for our rookie Yamon Figures to fill in for BJ Sams in case he's not healthy. Yamon Figures was among the fastest players in the NFL draft, if not the fastest.

I really do hope we start grooming Troy Smith. If McNair's career is finished in a couple years, and we need a guy to fill his spot. Boller is not an option.

The redskins will be horrible as usual, but at least this year, you guys will have a better defense with the acquisition of London Fletcher and with rookie safety Landry.

Ga Tech - Better. Sure we lost the nation's best receiver, but we also lost a crappy QB and replaced him with a guy that performed quite well in the bowl game last year.

Falcons - Hard to say. We may lose our QB and thus alot of rushing yards (yes, I said that right). But perhaps now we'll end up with someone who can hit moving targets.

Dolphins - Can't get much worse than 6-10, our defense is better than ever and Green should be a nice upgrade over CPEP and the other hapless QB's... I'd like to Trent play half the year, then have Beck thrown in the fire. Cameron has drafted several monsters, and I like the direction the team is headed. 8-8 sounds about right for this team.

Miami Hurricanes- On the decline... New coaching staff... I don't expect much out of them

Patriots- We have upgraded our linebackers and our wide receivers. If Randy Moss gels at all with Brady then it's going to be a fun season. Brady will have forgotten all about Deion Branch.

Colarado Buffs- Well you can't do much worse than 2-10. Hopefully we don't lose to Montana St. again. I can lose to ASU but Montana St. We sucked.

LSU - will be a better team, but it is hard to do better than finishing #4 in the country. I do think they will have a better record this year though, at least regular season that is.

I actually like what Shannon is doing down there Article With their recruiting base like it is, I would expect them to start a comeback.

It looks like Thompson wanted to build a team around defense. I think he's taking a page out of the Bears scheme. Hawk + Barnett = great linebacker core. I think our defense will be strong, but it's going to have to be. I don't see the Pack winning more than 8 games this year. Another mediocre season for #4. And I laugh at the Lions who really think they're going to win 10 games this year.

I haven't been keeping tabs on the Badgers but I hope to hear them talk about a possible BCS berth come October. I say we're top 10 finishers by the end of the season.

The 'skins will be much better - the offense (13th last year despite the injuries and a mid-year QB switch) will have Portis and Moss fully healthy, and Campbell is a huge upgrade over Brunell. He's been working his tail off all offseason with the coaches, and the results will be there come the regular season. Won't take much more for them to be a top 10 offense. Regarding the D, the return of Smoot, the return of Springs to full health, and the acquistion of Landry and Fletcher will make this unit better than last year (easy to do when last year's unit was 31st in a 32 team league). Overall, the 'skins will be better than last year's 5-11 (obviously a very low bar).

I'm not a NE fan, but dang are they fully-loaded or what?!? Now all they've got to do is make Samuels happy and they should be set.

woah...woah...woah...

I'm predicting somewhere between 12-4 & 10-6 on the steelers (probably a wild card)...

I'll agree with you on PSU...
Pitt will suck again, and WVU will be a top 25 team again this year.
