how do you get/stay motivated in college? i'm having a tough time paying attention in class.. in fact i'm supposed to be in class now, i left at the break :Q.... mostly i need motivation to do the assigned readings. how do you do it?? every semester i tell myself 'i'm gonna read the book this time' and every time i dont read... any suggestions??

try studying outside of your room....like at the library or something. i'm always more lackadaisical at home.

Maybe you weren't meant to be in College...

Just quit.. save some money for your parents and get a job at Wendy's....

I am looking forward to when I can work all day but then get to relax at night rather than work all day and then most of the night too.

<-- Grad student

motivation? youre not in high school anymore. go ahead and find employment at the local grocery store. noones stopping you

Grades helped me stay motivated. The fear of failing in college and failing in life helped me realize that I needed to pick up my slack. It's a shame that I realized that after my first quarter of my junior year. 🙁

Try getting a study partner ... preferrably a good looking guy (in your case) and you shall be motivated. 🙂

waiting to see how your living room looks.... 😀

Probably still has his hair from his botched hair cut the other day 😉.

You're gonna need to find your own motivation. Same as when you find a job and need motivation to get a better position, motivation to innovate, etc.

The easiest thing you can do now is to find motivation in getting good enough grades to get to where you see yourself in life.

Then again, if you're studying something that interests you, then you won't need motivation to study or remember it.

Sounds like you don't like the studying part of college. I like to learn but even so college wears me down by the end of the semester. If it wasn't for the breaks I would be pulling my hair out. But, my motivation (since you asked) is to graduate and land a solid job, build a nice house, and move in with my wife and daughter. If I schlepped through everything, my job earnings and therfore housing options would significantly shrink. Plus in the long run better jobs = better income security. Take it from someone who has been laid off.

Its so funny...

Working full time, I wait for the day that we go back to school. For the first month of school, I LOVE school.

During school - I HATE SCHOOL

Working does suck a lot more than being in school though...

You can do a few things...

1. You can get the "party animal" out now and just go BUCK NAKED WYLD. Get the "fun" times out of you now. After you're on academic probation and your parents are near to killing you for wasting their money, you might then have some motivation.

2. You can focus yourself, and make the effort. Things aren't going to be easy, you just have to push yourself. I don't know if you are a very social person but why not try study groups or hook up with some people in the class and read/study/chat with them.

3. You can always buy cliff notes to the book, who care about reading, as long as you get to party, get good grades, what does it matter that you actually read this lame/boring book?

4. You can pay someone to write your book reports and write out other miscellanous stuff.

5. Listening to music while reading sometimes helps me stay awake.

6. Find what you want to do with your life and perhaps that would be enough motivation.

7. Or you can quit school and become a PORN STAR!! PWNED!

Good Luck!
