I was a college kid and I did.
it was basically how I successfully got through every speech / presentation I had to do during college. not rip roaring drunk or anything, but a nice solid buzz to help me relax.

I've gone to school under the influence of something that wasn't alcohol.
Wake and Bake. That was a long time ago, though.

Why the hell would you do that? I can see doing in high school if you don't really give a crap about school, but why in college?

Sometimes in college you're forced to take classes that you don't really give a crap about. They were called gen eds at my undergrad university, don't know what they might be called elsewhere and I know that some universities don't use them.
For example, science major + generic middle school level greek mythology course?
