College "goodness" perceptions

I am trying to go back to school to earn my PhD in business. I will likely find out what schools take/reject me in the next month or two.

I have applied to more than a few schools since the admission chances are in the 5%-20% range for the programs I am interested in.

I only applied to schools I would be pleased to go to if I was given the chance, which is going to make picking a school kind of tough (if I am lucky to get into more than one).

I think I have a good chance of both the University of Central Florida and Texas Tech accepting me. Which school is better "overall" in terms of general perceptions of academic quality?

for post grad stuff it really depends on the field. Most fields have a handful of schools that lead that particular field or tend to have research resolve around its grad programs.

What is your field? Which type of commercial tie-ins do these schools have? Some fields (such as business) a school isnt worth its salt unless it has some prety serious cooperation going on with real world uses of what your studying.

You are going back to pick up a PhD and you are not even sure on the quality of the programs to which you are applying?

I have a good idea as to how they are perceived in my intended field. But I am interested in learning how the general population (which I am using this forum as a poor substitute) views each school.

Since this is ATOT most certainly trash. 😛

Never really heard of/thought about either of them. Perception from your field of business would make more sense to focus on.

Oh, you mean GENERAL perception?

Well both schools won thier bowl game. However the head scratcher with TT is that they fired a football coach for being mean to his athletes, a few years after hiring a basketball coach known for being mean to his athletes.

Texas Tech has a stronger brand, and that's really the only answer you get get here with how vague you are with your question.
