College Football: Anyone else hate all the "excessive celebration" penality nonsense?

Get on with the game. It's just a stupid game, one of a billion others going on at the same time. Get back on the line and read for the next play.

Yeah the rule is bullshit. Celebrations, when within reason, adds to the excitement of the game. The fans are pumped, teh players are pumped and the energy builds off each other. It adds to the viewing experience.

*Excessive* celebration? Sure. Make the call.
High fives? No way that should be called.

Look, these are guys in their late teens and early twenties. Anyone would be excited, but we were all (or still are) that age. It doesn't take much to get them riled up.

Let them have fun. Most of them will be desk jockies like the rest of us soon enough.

I've played volleyball competitively at a high level for maybe 8 years, I've gone to national competitions maybe 6 or so times and was a starter on a D2 team before leaving the school.

When I get a big point on a big play, I definitely celebrate. Not like an asshole, but it's impossible to not react. And there is a LOT more scoring in volleyball compared to football.

An "excessive celebration" penalty should be called only because the celebration took too much time, or taunted the opposition, or was vulgar or in bad taste.

That's it.
