If you bothered to apply to Wharton I'd assume your interest was in business...In what respect could NU possibly trump (pun intended) Wharton in a business career (this is rhetorical)?

i wouldnt be surprised if you get denied from every school you apply to. gods knows i wouldnt admit you if the choice was up to me
you may be bitter with your rejections and the fact that he has connections, but you need to realize thats how the world works, for better or worse. get over yourself.
brackis, you will get a decent education at any of those schools, so i say you base your decision on what you think of the campuses/cities. dont forget, you will be living there for the next 4 (or more) years so make sure you like it
This is the best advice in the thread so far. Ultimately, the choice is going to move beyond what will look good on your future resume or what your parents believe. Visit both, and pick the one that FEELS best. This is a completely subconscious decision. Both schools are about equal academics-wise. Treat this like you would if you had to move someplace for 4 years. Just because a neighborhood "looks good" to other people doesn't mean that its the best fit for you.
On a personal note, I visited both schools in April when I needed to decide, and I am now extremely happy with my choice.

Nothing really. I thought being near Chicago would be cool, and I really liked the campus from the pictures I saw. Never visited either campus. Pretty poor research on my part. I didn't even know Northwestern didn't have an undergrad business school until I got there.
I just figured with Kellogg, they would have one.I graduated w/ BA in Econ and now have a >$100k picture frame hanging in my home office.
But I don't care. I own my business so I don't need to impress anyone w/ my education background. No education required for my current line of work. Funny how things work out.Bah, plot thickens as I get email from lady who interviewed me asking if I'd go to Brown if I got off the waitlist. (I would assume this means she could put in a good word too)

I'm with you on the success later in life thing, but it's important to remember that this sort of decision should be made with all other variables being equal. I hope the OP doesn't take anecdotal success into account, otherwise there'd be plenty of motivation to just drop out of HS.

Funny you'd mention it, but I did drop out of highschool after my junior year for a short period
Now actively seeking someone who is undergrad at Brown who would be willing to let me tag along and spend a night on the floor between the 14th and 25th of April.

Uh, anything under 15,000 students for undergrad is small. 15-25k is medium size, 25k-35k is large, and 35k+ is extra large.
well, the good thing about NW is that if the college is dead on the weekends...you can just go to chicago area.
Also, what do you plan on majoring in? Do you plan on going to grad school? If yes, NW is your choice by far then. But look at the schools strong points and decide what you think your major will be. That was my deciding factor. Frats are a good and a bad thing. A majority of frat guys are mean and disrespectful, but some aren't. The good thing about them is that they keep parties and such going strong. Knowing people at a campus is bad also. You want to start a clean slate and get to know more people and have more of a well rounded understanding of people. It will help you now more than if you had to go through that sort of thing when you start a job. Consider all the facts, visit the school, choose what you think makes the most sense.

It is on the smaller side of the mean, but not small compared to a place like Rice or Wake Forest that are major universities with 2000 undergrads and still field division 1 sports.
