I worked full time through most of college so I wasn't starving....but before I started up a REAL job, I was making $5.41 an hour and only working 20hrs/week. Money was tight so I hit a discount grocery and picked up boxes of cheap pasta (Rotini, elbow macoroni, ziti, etc) I then bought small cans of seasoned diced tomatoes and a few bags of shredded cheese. Not counting the cheese, I was able to cook a 16oz box of pasta and have sauce for it all for around $0.75. A box would usually last me 2 meals.
Healthy choices are canned beans. Pork & Beans with BBQ sauce. 3/$1 if you buy from discount places.....ad a few tablespoons of BBQ sauce @ $1 per cheap bottle.... This meal won't fill you up longer than a few hours, but you can live on it, and it's virtually fat free.
