<< College BB is 3 long weekends of energy and last second shots. NBA playoffs is 7 or 8 weeks of slugging and bruising, half court, back to the basket, clear out, boring-ass basketball. And 2 weeks to play the 7 games of the NBA finals? What a joke, play some back to back games. The whole finals is scheduled around NBC's "must see Thursday".
Despite CBS and their "one shining moment", college BB playoffs are better.
Somebody tell me how we went from 64 to 65 teams... >>
It's because the number of automatic bids has increased to 31 (had been 30), and the selection committee always picks 34 at-large teams. So they have the two teams from the lower-ranked conferences play a "play-in game" (two days before the tournament really begins... i.e. Tuesday) to determine the 16 seed.
They did it last year too.
It's sort of lame if you ask me... so then the winner of the NIT is the 66th best team in the nation?
