College Basketball vs NBA; which do you enjoy watching more?

NFS4

No Lifer
I LOVE college basketball. Maybe it's just me, but the NBA doesn't do it for me. Seems as though college has a bit more finess.

i like watching both around playoff time.

College games during the whole year seem like playoff time though. Crowds are alwyas wild with school spirit, but its amazing how during tournament time the crowd is split both ways with people representing both schools so there's always a crowd cheering for the team with the ball.

And the NBA playoffs are a beauty to watch too. Players really seem to turn it up with the finality of the playoffs.

the NCAA tournament is pretty wild too with upsets and the whole one and done tournament.

Plus, the college kids are working really hard to impress everyone, because that's basically their audition for the NBA. And basically the end of the basketball lives of others.

College basketball, no question. NBA is boring and everyone is a selfish primadonna at that level. College Basketball is pure talent, teamwork, and competition at its finest!!!!

college, the reffing is more even (unless its crappy school vs duke or UNC)

but i really hate dick vitale. the most annoying guy on the planet and he cheerleads big time.

NBA
i know a lot of people prefer college cuz its more "competitive" or whatever.... but i just like watching good basketball, and there's no way you can compare college players to NBA players. it's boys vs. men

I agree!!

"Ohhh babeeeeeeee, look at the dookies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ohhh, Jason Williams is a diaper dandy!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BABEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!"

I love college basketball MUCH better. I think the NBA has kinda pigeon-holed itself into this whole hip-hop culture thing (u ever see that game NBA Streets for Gamecube?) There are so many great athletes at the college level (white, black, hispanic) who'll never make it to the NBA because they're not big enough or not tall enough...while punks from high school are picked on size alone.

Besides all that, I think college basketball games are much more fun to be watching live too. The crowd is much more energetic (even at the wine&cheese Dean Dome!) I've been to games at Cameron and Cole Field House and the atmosphere was just electric. You don't get that elsewhere unless your rich enough to afford floor seats during the NBA playoffs.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I HATE Dook Vitale. Why can't they just keep him on ESPN and make him stay away from ABC sports coverage??? Why do I need to see him on TWO channels??

C'mon NFS4, there's no need to be hostile. NC State's going to the big dance this time. Heck, a lot of people went to State over the years and never saw them go. 🙂

[edit] I think college basketball is much better. Others have pointed more obvious reasons. I think that college bb is more exciting because there are not so many games. There are 2x more NBA games than college games. [/edit]

college basketball=Clippers
nba basketball = Lakers

sure the clippers got more young exciting players, but if you want to see a complete game of basketball (sets, picks, defense, and plays designed for certain player)watch the Lakers.

NCAA is my favorite, but I do really enjoy the NBA Playoffs.

Just got my bracket all filled out! The West bracket looks tought!

College BB is 3 long weekends of energy and last second shots. NBA playoffs is 7 or 8 weeks of slugging and bruising, half court, back to the basket, clear out, boring-ass basketball. And 2 weeks to play the 7 games of the NBA finals? What a joke, play some back to back games. The whole finals is scheduled around NBC's "must see Thursday".

Despite CBS and their "one shining moment", college BB playoffs are better.

Somebody tell me how we went from 64 to 65 teams...

It's because the number of automatic bids has increased to 31 (had been 30), and the selection committee always picks 34 at-large teams. So they have the two teams from the lower-ranked conferences play a "play-in game" (two days before the tournament really begins... i.e. Tuesday) to determine the 16 seed.

They did it last year too.

It's sort of lame if you ask me... so then the winner of the NIT is the 66th best team in the nation?

Exactly!

Where did number 31 come from? some tiny new conference sending its champion?

I think it's lame too, before long this is going to turn into 76 teams with a whole week preceeding the actual 64 team tournament...
