college and stuff

The dreaded time to find a college, im sure so many of you have gone throught that. I live in the USA and im intresting in working for the FBI/CIA as a computer tech or in the computer feilds. What do you think my chances are? What has everybody else done for college? Just wondering

do what i did and apply to one college that you know you can get into. saves a lot of trouble.

oh btw, i've heard that if you want to get a job with cia/fbi, you need to have a squeaky clean background.

i applied mainly to UC's (the california ones) since i knew that's pretty much where i wanted to be.

Since you didn't post your academic stats , what colleges you've applied/are going to apply to and such, and since i really don't know you at all, i have a better chance at guessing what you're wearing than you're odds of success in your mentioned fields

I heard a military background is always a plus when applying for gov't jobs.
my friends brother who wanted to be a codebreaker for the NSA (he's a genius at math) didn't get the job. Not lack of qualifications (as a cal-tech graduates degree is a nice $$$ apparently) but something in his background/personality didn't rub the nsa the right way. He's squeeky-clean, and it was rather surprising to hear that he didn't make it through the background screening. The interviewed his family and friends too apparently, and even took a picture of his room at school and at home. pretty intense imo.

When i graudated high school, I too was interested in joining the CIA and working for their Ninja Taskforce Division. Unfortunately I found out that there were no such thing and my brother was lying to me my entire life. I then settled for a degree in Business.

My dad once wanted to be in the FBI. He was in the marines for 5 years then became a CPA, then decided not to go for FBI. Usually for that position you need to either be a Laywer or a CPA (certified public acountant).

there are lots of positions for software/systems engineers on govt. contracts in the DC area. most positions, including the ones with cia, fbi etc. require security clearances. that means background investigation + polygraph test. things like drug use, bad credit, mental health issues, and lots of foreign contact *can* reduce your chances of getting a clearance. if you want to get ANY job, the best advice is to just kick ass at school.

I just graduated and was going to apply to the FBI...I should have started the application process much earlier, it takes a long time, so i took a diff gov't job. Learn a second language!

The FBI and/or CIA usually prefer applicants who can write coherent English.
