Heh, you probably should've waited until ~late March/April to bump this, as most non-early admission people are going to hear back then (like me). Applied to (and of course, waiting for): UC Berk, UCLA, UCSD, Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Princeton, and Harvey-Mudd.

I just got an acceptance letter from Purdue!

But when I got my acceptance from Rice, I cancelled my apps to all my other schools.

Hmmmm.


Anyone want to goto Purdue? You can have my letter and housing forms!

Just curious, but why UM and M. Tech for engineering, but no Kettering? Aren't you from Flushing?

Well although Kettering is a good school for EE and Mechanical Engineering, I'm going into CE, and both Tech and UM are better for CE. Plus Kettering is more expensive because it is private.

EDIT: And yeah, I am from Flushing.

just curious... you have 7 solid Califonian Tech institutes. Why is Princeton on the list?

I'm transferring from a community college, have been accepted at Binghamton University and SUNY Brockport. Don't know which I'll go to though. BU is a better school, but a lot of my friends might be going to Brockport and it would be a lot of fun if we all went there.

Check sig. I got accepted into RPI Early Action, and got deferred to Normal Admission for MIT. So right now I am waiting for MIT Normal, Columbia, and Maryland. If I somehow get into MIT, I am going to discuss with my parents whether they will allow me to go or not because RPI has given me $15k a year.

RPI is great school and you won't lose your hair before graduation (refering to MIT)...

RPI is great school and you won't lose your hair before graduation (refering to MIT)...

Oh, I know RPI is a great school and will enjoy going there, but if I was given the opportunity to go to MIT, I think I would snag it right up.

I got into UIUC also, but I am already committed to Rice.

Rice is the better school, and where I would go anyway. Still, its good to hear colleges like Purdue and UIUC tell you you are up to their standards even if you aren't going there.

A good buddy of mine got rejected from UIUC. Kinda sad. Hes a smart guy, but a tad lazy about schoolwork (he stays up all night working on his operating system instead . . .)

WOW! im surprised at some pretty smart people here on ATOT. im hearing acceptances to great places like cornell, MIT, rice, and maybe univ of wash in st. louis. might be some columbias, upenns.

so far nobody has yet to hit the big boys like stanford, harvard, yale etc. yet though.

I thought Stanford was more like 15, HP around 11%. Anyway, I got into Stanford when I applied a couple of years ago -- but I chose Rice, 'cause it's better for undergrad, 😛....and cheaper.

Hey! an owl! heh, I'm headed your way (assuming your still there) next year!

Anywho, Harvard, Yale, Stanford . . . they are all excellent schools, but I want an engineering education at a place that is good for undergrads. That means not at any of them. Rice, Cornell, CMU, MIT, Caltech, UIUC, etc. all have engineering programs that kick the tails of the offerings from harvard, yale, etc.

That said, anyone who gets into Harvard or Yale is either A) Ridiculously intelligent B) Such a great person they make Jesus look like Darth Vader, or C) Way too focused on school.

Coming to Owl Weekend? That's what made my decision (although it's not really entirely indicative of what goes on); but I guess if you're already committed, it doesn't matter.

I've only heard from UC Irvine so far, but my friend has already gotten into MIT and Caltech. Another has gotten into Amherst.
