JW ....what are some of the requirements to be admitted to Columbia ....I'm a Junior and I might be interested

BTW.....congrats man

Cool. Enjoy taking classes there and paying their high tution, whereas you could get the same class's cheaper for the same money:Q

it's not that expensive... the admissions officer i talked to said they give out massive amounts of financial aid...

<< yearly expenses will EASILY total $32,000 at columbia. well that's if you don't commute or already own an apartment in the city. and yes, columbia is a business and will try to take as much money from you as possible.
>>

This is prob true of any Ivy League Univ... Thank goodness for fellowships!!!

UofI, it is i believe an important thing
who if u were a patient and were expecting an operation
would you want someone out of a no name schooL?
or a not so well known state school or one from the most prestigious and selective schools in teh nation?
im happy i got in
but there are perks to paying more, like startin off w/ higher salaries, granted you keep decent grades!=|
heheh
i dunno, yes there is hte possibility i mite be wasting my money going here
but its a chance in a lifetime...as well as a binding contract!heheheh
requirements?
im guessin SAT >= 1350 mebe less, but it is selective
GPA above 3.7
must have AP's or advnaced courses
lotza extracirricular activities
good SAT II's , i dunno, some of hte basic things, i mite be wrong, but that is my view on the selection, at least for early decison

Congrats on your admittance to Columbia! However, I'm with pamchenko.

CORNELL RULES, especially since I recently got into their Engineering College early decision. Can't wait for next year to start!

EDIT: Just to rub it in, Cornell is ranked 7th for engineering, whereas Columbia is 26th. Not that the rankings actually mean much, but still.😛🙂

Congrats to all of you that have gotten accepted, college is an awesome experience and I'm sure all of you will enjoy the way I still am 😀

Cornell over Columbia? Please.

What rankings are you talking about? I don't see the usnews ones out yet.

Hook it up with a link Big Red. 🙂

<< I'm suprised people have never heard of it, ranked number 9 overall by US News. >>

*bastard child* comment removed

edit: clarification
edit2: New Year's Resolution #1: Learn to read, especially numbers in table format. #2: Learn the definition of "overall". #3: Learn to websurf correctly.

<< People have heard of it, but it's considered the bastard child (along with UPenn) of the Ivy League. >>

Really? Okay, it's obvious now that I go to Columbia and admittedly, there is quite a level of dissatisfaction, but that's the FIRST time I've ever heard that we're the "bastard child" of the Ivy League.

Don't tell me you put all your eggs into columbia basket?
Cornell beats columbia for a mile.
We are gonna beat the crap outta you
Fsck em up, Fsck em up,
go C.U. !!!
😀

<< ieor or cs
not sure yet
mebe concentrations and a major, defintely no doubles
costs come near high 20g's
yea, nearly 30=(
but when i get out, i should be easily makin more than i put in~hopefully!!!
wishing for hte best!
>>

yeah, but you would make the same salary with the same major from most other schools.

Yeah, Cornell was fun, but don't chose a major or school based on the amount of money you will earn later (it is better to be happy than rich). Private schools are costly and if it is too much of a burden on your parents then you should look at alternatives. You won't really miss out on much unless you plan to do a lot of research with profs during undergrad. Also nothing is a sure thing. I graduated in the top 10 percent last year and still am looking for a job.

Too bad Cornell is in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE (Ithaca, NY). 😉 When I drove there I couldn't believe how much nothing I had to go through to get to the campus.

Actually I have a lot of friends that went to Cornell, it's a good school, however the social life at Columbia is much better given it's proximity to party people in Manhattan (even if it's kinda in a DMZ).

What do you mean Cornell in the middle of nowhere? It's only 1 hour from Syracuse and Binghampton 😕 😀
