Before you buy the Coleman take a look at this one also sold a Home Depot.
Generac 5500 Wheelhouse
I bought it over the coleman earlier this year.
Why:
1) The Coleman panel has to few outlets. The one 120 volt (15 amp) recepticale can NOT deliver the full 40amps (5000 watts x 120 volts) the generator is supposed to create. You'll have to buy a special cable to use the 240 volt twist lock to get more regular outlets. Or wire the generator into the electrical panel.

2) The Generac that I recommend has a higher surge/start-up wattage rating (Coleman 6250 max vs. Generac 8500 watts). This means the Generac has a better rotor. And is more likly to sustain the proper voltage. Also, there is an extra 500 watts of sustained power (Coleman 5000 watss vs. Generac 5500 watts).
3) The gas tank on the Wheelhouse model can easily disconnet from the generator. The tank can be taken to the gas station to fill-up and it can be easily drained. Also, there is gas gauge built into the cap of the Wheelhouse fuel tank.
4) Same B&S 10 hp engine. The Wheelhouse engine/muffler is queiter than my new 7hp Toro lawnmower.
5) Consomer reports gives the Wheelhouse a Best Buy rating. Can anyone post the full text of the Consumer Reports findings? Also, did the Coleman produce the rated 5000 watts of power at 110 volts?
