I've learned how to "beat" the coldsore. I get one once every year or two. I carry a tube of the coldsore medication everywhere I go, I keep it in my business bag (with me often). The second you feel the tingle or itch use the medication. If you wait too long beyond that first tingle you'll lose control of it. The only problem with my practice is when a coldsore starts while I'm sleeping, it's to late to stop it by the time I wake up.

Yeah, plain old acyclovir works just fine and its about 1/10th of the cost. Of course, that was for a bad case of shingles I had which crossed dermatomes, I don't get cold sores.NO Valtrex
