Back in my day we would have burned the lot of them for such blasphemy.

Word.

I am sort of surprised that this (and the Billie Jean cover) sucks as much as it does considering Coldplay is great at stealing riffs from other people.

amagad /puuuuuke

I loved coldplay when they first came out, "shiver" was an awesome song. But they have ruined my opinion of them... especially after stealing viva la vida from Satriani... and now this. shameful. sad. unforgivable.

coldplay diaf.

Musical interpretation is a quality that's often overlooked, and is a significant factor imo in what can make a musician a true artist and sometimes musical genius.

This interpretation, as well as Coldplay's interpretation of Billy Jean by MJ, are great examples of why Coldplay could easily be defined as being a bunch of fvcking morons who musically don't know their heads from their @ss.

:laugh::thumbsup:

You're all a bunch of Hatas.

I prefer the Beastie Boys version(a lot more), but this wasn't near as bad as y'all are making it out to be. Certainly better than that Poker Face cover from the other thread...that was an Abortion of Epic proportions.

sympathizing with ColdPlay is like sympathizing with the Taliban.

I didn't think it was possible for me to hate Coldplay more than I did 2 minutes ago, but I was wrong.

Let's not make it a hater thread. This cover simply sucks @ss.

Dear Coldplay,

Please kindly turn the ignition key to your Beetle to the right and proceed to drive into oncoming traffic.

Sincerely,

I used to hate covers, and a few years ago, I would agree that this is the worst thing I had ever heard.
But... I have come to appreciate covers, even the horrible ones.

I like that artists can completely flip a song into their style.

No! It is never as good as the original... because it's NOT the original.
It's a cover.

Plenty of covers end up better than the original.

Yup. It's meant as a Tribute to the original Artist. This particular one is decent. The Lady Gag/Poker Face cover by Faith No More(IIRC) was freaking horrible.

Coldplay castrated this song's passion and purpose, and offered absolutely nothing creative in terms of interpretation or musical expression in return.

I'm all for remakes, they can be brilliant, but wtf was his point here? He turned it into lifeless inept elevator music. The most hilarious and telling part was the fans laughing when it started.

If I were a member of beastie boys, I'd rip coldplay a new one.

Coldplay being one of my favourite contemporary bands I have nothing against them, but it does seem like a very strange mix. I have a hard time seeing either fan base liking the music of the other. Why would either band agree to this?

That's fucking awful. Just like the Billie Jean cover.

Here is how you cover Billie Jean.

Holy crap, I hadn't heard that, but it's actually pretty awesome. Thanks!

Was decent except for the short fast strumming parts.

Yeah, that was a little odd.. but Cornell's singing easily made up for that. He has a great voice.
