He hit the right spot when he came on the scene, but he just has not grown with it.

It shows he had some tallent, but it also shows that he is probably as good as he will ever be. Not a 1 hit wonder, but a definite "era" singer.

Yes, but I don't consider the Beatles to be the best.

Maybe the most popular, but I think the Rolling Stones or Pink Floyd were better in terms of creativity and musical skill.

Not by a wide magin, mind you, but still. Exile on Main Street kicks Peppers arse.

LOL Coldplay is the worst piece of shit band possibly ever. They blatantly ripped off Joe Satriani and when he tried to talk to them about it they ignored him.

This is the first time I've agreed with Kanye. I can't stand the Beatles.

"Kanye says America may be known for producing some of the most famous bands in the world, but it is the UK who have the strongest musicians."

Well, he is right about that. Example: Led Zeppelin/Pink Floyd.

well, that's a rather limited assessment.

particularly when you give examples of bands when he's talking about musicians.

The greatest and most influential musician/performer in the history of modern music? Louis Armstrong. With a close nod to Miles Davis.
Greatest song-writer? Dylan. no question.

It's also really hard to look at many of those awesome British bands without considering the American musicians that inspired them.

The USA certainly has produced as many shitty bands and music as anyone else, if not more...but we probably have more top-flight musicians that are universally considered pioneers.

Not a fan of either, but i think led zep and pink floyd are vastly superior.

I think the Dead destroy all of them simply based on versatility. Garcia had more talent in his one missing finger than any musician in any of the other bands.

It's kind of hard to argue against that if you take them to consider what they have done.

I love all of those groups. You should also know that the Beach Boys begat Pink Floyd. Brian Wilson is a musical god. way more influential than Waters or Gilmore; and I consider myself (or at least i have, in the past), a Floyd junkie.

I like Coldplay better than the Beatles. IMO The Beatles are incredibly overrated and produced only a handful of decent music.

The hip-hop artist also issued a plea to work with Coldplay again. He wants to record a whole album with the group, and thinks if they did it would be one of the most successful the world has ever seen.

Kanye has also discussed his public persona, admitting he knows a lot of people don't like him. He is currently promoting his new record My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and has decided to stop giving so many interviews in the hope people will start to realise he is a genuine person.

Coldplay and the Beatles can't even be compared. The Beatles basically paved the pop and rock genre roads. Coldplay merely built upon what the Beatles brought to music. Those that weren't around during the Beatle's heyday really have no idea why they were such a sensation at the time and why they are so revered now.

You know what? The city of Pittsburg paved all the roads through that city but that doesn't mean they did a respectable job.

They paved the way for good artists. By being shit.

So the Beatles found a new way to record stuff. Big fuckin deal.

lol. K. Guess you had to be there to appreciate what The Beatles brought to music at the time. Groups like Coldplay do nothing but rehash what The Beatles already did 3 decades prior.

Maybe, but they started the British invasion. The Beatles early stuff was very bubble gum but the stuff from the Abby Road days is pure genius. Sgt. Peppers and Abby Road are perfect albums.

The Stones edge them out on their ability to evolve over time. They are what the Beatles could have been had they continued on. They share a lot in common in terms of their creative roots. Ruby Tuesday could have been a Beatles song. The Stones chose to go with harder rock earlier than their contemporaries. That's what made them stand out. Their sound continued to evolve and change with the times. They were flexible enough to stay on top.

Pink Floyd is a great band but not the best. Don't get me wrong. I love them. They produced some very technically proficient music. But, they got stuck in this moody vibe after Sid Barret went nuts. It produced some legendary albums but they never really evolved their sound beyond that.

I see this kind of stuff posted constantly by kids that were born years after the Beatles were done. Sorry but your not old enough to have a valid opinion of the Beatles.

Unless you lived through those years you have no clue about the state of music at the time, and the significance of the inovations they initiated.
And comparing Coldplay to the Beatles is like comparing Justin Bieber to Frank Sinatra, no valid comparison can be made

Pre-Waters = unlistenable
Post-Waters = Epic psychedelic rock that is w/o equal
Post-Waters = 80's garbage

So I would say they evolved once and devolved once.

Yet another "Had to be there" comment.

You know what? I can listen to everything that was playing on the radio back then including the Beatles.

They're still shit.

Ha Ha, save for the Beatles, Elvis and the Stones I bet you couldn't name another artist with a hit record in the 60's if your life depended on it. You are certainly entitled to your own opinion, but when commenting on an entire genre of music that was gone before you sucked on your first binky you won't find many that care about your opinion
