no geocities will not work.

if you are running win2k, install IIS (internet information services) from your win2k cd and that will allow you to run a webserver on your computer (http://localhost/).

i think you can get IIS for win98/me if thats what your using.

He speaks the truth... HOWEVER - I can't remember if CFServer worked in conjunction with free webservers out there... but it's worth it to try first. During the install of CFServer, it asks if you're using IIS, OReilly Website (which we use here), etc. or OTHER so free webserver software may even work. Try Simple Server: http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network.htm

Install it first, then install CFServer to see if it will recognize it. The reason you should try non-IIS webservers first is because IIS is high maintenance. Since you only want to learn CF, you shouldn't subject yourself with keeping up to date with security patches for IIS.

CF Rules.

Ok,,

so i should unstall CF and then reinstall it, and it would be better to use the simpleserver????

can you explain how this will work, sorry i am truly a newbie at this, but really want to learn!
