Coldest April Easter in 57 years

All this talk about Global Warming and the following happens.
Better grab your insulated bonnets; we're in for the coldest Easter Sunday in years.

That didn't stop a group of early Easter egg hunters in Anoka this afternoon. They bundled up for the holiday tradition, despite the cold.

"That's Minnesota for you. But we still have our Easter spirit," said Sarah Oftelie.

Easter Sunday's high temperature will struggle to make 40 degrees, barely higher than Christmas day. In fact, we haven't seen April temperatures like this in almost 60 years.

Other parts of the country are freezing, too. Friday's Twins game is canceled in Chicago, and Atlanta could see its coldest Easter Sunday in 120 years.
Just more proof that trying to point to a few hot days in the Summer as proof of Global Warming is total BS.

I would have also posted a story in which one of the leading Hurricane predictors accused Gore of fear mongering with his predictions, but it's no longer on Drudge and I don't feel like looking for it.

Yeah it was only 75 and sunny here today. Worked on the tan!

OT: You might want to read up on your subject matter a bit more. Otherwise you risk looking like an ignorant fool.
Whoops! Too late....

It is 37 in Houston and snowing at my lake house 40 miles north of here. I have never seen weather like this in April.

Ahhhh, another one that can't figure out what global warming is...

Sigh........

Wait till it's the hottest 4 of july in 57 years. I guess that would convince you no?

Meanwhile...

Americans erase U.N. evaluation?s calls for reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.

Global warming/climate change is about averages and trends. Not one time acceptions. I think 10 years of record temperatures in summer and winter, yearly record average planetary temperaures, and other trends more than overwhelm the "evidence" to the contrary provided by a cold weekend.

why do we get these posts every time there's some random local short-term weather phenomena?

Yeah I don't think global warming means that its going to always be warmer every day of the year than before.

For some reason, I thought Prof was actually a professor of something.

This thread answers everything.

My God how can someone be so wrong all the time? Please stop posting this sh!t, you look like a total dumbass when you say cold day = no global warming.

You'd have thought that will all the practice you have had over the years posting here you would have figured a thing or two out by now.

there is a good point to be understood here (though it isn't made very well by the OP). IT is very important that people distinguish between general trends and normal fluctuations. This goes for both the global warming skeptics who point this out, AND the global warming believers (of which I am one btw). People often point to uneasonally high temperatures as proof of global warming when they should not be doing so. And even worse people point to ONE destructive hurricane (Katrina) and say it is because global warming even though it certainlly wasn't even the strongest hurricane recently, it was only the terrible luck that it hit New Orleans head on. Also it makes a good point about people talking about the highest/lowest temperatures on some given day in the last several decades. The fact is that since there are 365 days in a year the odds of having a few days that are the highest/lowest in decades is pretty good, so sayng that some say is the hottest in 50 years or so means little, espeically when its only some small region. IE: saying Atlanta is the coldest its been on Easter in the last 100 years doesn't mean cr@p because its ONE city on ONE day (and nither does San Fran being the hottest in 100years some other day mean anything either).

More and more, I get the feeling that the "prof" in ProfJohn must be some Eastern European word for ignorant. The name is just too short to be Native American for "provocateur without a clue".

The last two summers in Texas have been pretty mild with few days over 100.

I agree with the n00b.

My favorite was how last year was going to be the mother of all hurricane seasons... whoops.

Re: The Hurricane comment. Yeah, I have to agree. I'm in South Florida and was glad they were so wrong. One expert is predicting 5 major hurricanes for this season with one having a better than 70% chance of making U.S. landfall.

Back OT, I don't know definitively-nobody does- if the weather is changing due to our treatment of the planet but I do think adjusting our habits might not be a bad idea. Too bad it's become so politicized.

I don't disagree. But this eco-terrorism has to stop.

OP = sarcasm?
OP = parody?
OP = ignorance?

I didn't think there was anyone left in the country who looked at the temps for a day or two and commented, either way, about golbal warming.

The point is that many people look at a hot day and say wow Global Warming is real.

Look at the mild winter we had. How many people actually believed that it was a direct result of Global Warming? Maybe not many on here, but overall I am sure tons of people bought into it.

Overall the media coverage of Global Warming is awful. Filled with doom and gloom and predictions of death and destruction for the entire world. The media focuses on ice caps melting in one place, but ignores ice caps growing in others etc.

The media also ignores the rather large amount of scientists who question just how great of an effect man is on Global Warming. There is lots of evidence that Global Warming is real, but there are TONS of questions as to how much of an effect man is having on it.

Anyone else read the story about Global Warming on Mars? It is possible that this is being caused by the Sun putting out more energy than it has in the recent past. There are scientists who have developed models that show the same thing could cause Global Warming here as well.
The amount of UV rays entering our atmosphere effects cloud creation. Clouds reflect the Suns energy back into space, so less clouds means more of the suns energy is hitting the earth which results in higher temperatures.

The big question isn?t whether Global Warming is real; the question is how much of it is to blame on humans. This does NOT mean that we should stop efforts to save energy and get away from fossil fuels. But it DOES mean that much of the Global Warming hysteria is missed placed fear mongering.
