In case you were wondering why you get cold sore outbreaks everysooften...

Herpes hides in nerve cells because a persons immunity does not scan nerve cells due to lack of certain receptors. They can hide out there for a while and whenever you are stressed or slightly sick, or in anyway immunocomprimised they jump out and form a small tumor on your face or genital. A few stay behind and reproduce, the ones the form the tumor are eventually killed off.

If you react this way to a cold sore how would you react later if you marry her to pregnancy induced stretch marks,c-section scar or gasp.. breast cancer.

Do her a favor and end things now.

jeez you people are harsh...maybe he's just not educated about cold sores and how contagious or not they are...I don't see anything wrong with being concerned about catching something, I sure as hell wouldn't want cold sores...

yeah, calm down everyone... just asking for advice here, and its not like ive been dating her for a year or anything long term, just weighing my options.

There's nothing to weigh. Chances are, you already have the virus but don't break out.

Correct me if im wrong but I think people get confused when mentioning Herpes.

The mouth Herp or cold sores affects like 75% of America and gets confused with the Genital Herpes which is the bad one.

I think people associate the 2 and freak out but the Genetal one is the one you dont want

You shouldn't dump her.

Most people by the time they're 20 are already a carrier of the virus (something like 90% of the population has it). Some people break out more often than others. Some may never break out. You can transfer the disease regardless of a breakout.

Just so you know, it's possible that you gave the virus to your girl and she just happened to break out and you didn't and she was completely "healthy" before she met you.

Don't worry about it and just avoid genital contact while having outbreaks.

Not really a fair comparison, none of those are contagious, let alone capable of causing an STD (genital herpes if they have oral sex) like cold sores.

Yeah they hide in a nerve cluster just beneath your temple.

Something like 80% of people have some form of herpes cold sores, though many won't exhibit symptoms.

I have HSV, and I'm just really careful about it.

I voted Yes, because you probably don't deserve her if you're considering breaking up with her over cold sores. Do her a favor, break it off.
