Cold Mountain: Just saw it

her role in this movie reminded me a bit of Doris Day in Calamity Jane.

the first movie that i remember her in really significantly was Jerry Maguire.

her most famous film was probably diary of bridget jones. she gained a lot of weight for that one.

she played with Catherine Zeta Jones in Chicago and held her own.

so i'd say she has pretty remarkable range as an actress

*SPOILER* RZ was admittedly very good in the movie. Mrsskoorb got too bored to finish the movie and I'll say I almost didn't too. The first half hour is exceptionally boring. I did hold out though and the movie got a lot better. I have to say I didn't much care for the ending. Overall a thumbs up, but not a movie I'll bother to see twice (though I see few movies twice anyway).

You can see her in "Down with Love," too. Though I warn you, the movie isn't for everyone.

Personally, I thought she was hot in Bridget Jones' diary. She looks good with a little weight on her.

You can also see her in White Oleander.

One of her early films is "Love and a .45"

She had been typecast as a cutsie type in most of her other movies, but her acting ability is much broader. Cold Mountain proves this.

I liked cold mountain, it wasn't exactly what I expected it to be. RZ was definately good in it. I'll agree that about the first hour was pretty boring as well.

My real complaint was that the movie didn't really expand much on Jude Law's character. We basically learn he's a tough and capable fellow with a good heart, but there is pretty much nothing about his past or character other than that. This may have been intentional, since his character hardly talks, but I still felt I never really knew who the guy was.

His death at the end didn't really surprise me all that much, but I will say it saddened me. And WTF was up with those back woods sex sisters that hung out with Giovanni Ribsi? I never really understood them. Were they inbred sex fiends that the confederates paid to snag deserters or what? I'm confused.

Just because I have to know... 😛 If you think RZ is overrated after watching Cold Mountain then please tell me what actress is not overrated.

I personally find RZ to possess the most range of any of the current slew of major Hollywood actresses.

Yeah she's good. In White Oleander she's like a hapless trophy wife with no skills whatever, in Cold Mountain she's tough as nails cursing farmer girl who is a better worker than most of the men and has the confidence to back it up. I bought her as both roles.

Yeah, its actually not as great as it sounds. You see a few tits, some are worth seeing some are not. Not worth watching the movie for IMO, the scene is pretty short.
