I don't understand how microsoft can be so rich yet still spam their own hotmail users like that. what is their problem? other email services aren't that bad about it, and they aren't nearly as rich as MS. sometimes i wonder if those guys have a soul..... -don't mean to MS bash, they get enough of that, but it is warranted this time.

<fume> Isn't this sort of thing why they are so rich? :disgust:

tons of spam in my yahoo account.

worse yet, yahoo's spam filter still let at least 1/3 spam slip into inbox.

My hotmail junk mail filter use to work fine, but now it let 100% of junk mail go to my inbox.
I have no clue, even if I BANNED so many keywords and set the security to highest, it still keep coming.
I think hotmail might switch something at their end, so that EVERYTHING would go directly to my INBOX :(

What was done cannot be undone. In these few years, I had already signed up so many accounts (spree, freedrive, free magazines, newsletters, etc...). It's too late to unsubscribe from these since they had already sold many copies of my email address to other spammers. After I used "unsubscribe" on some of these spam mails, I got more spams in return.

Now, my foot got so deep in the water that I kept getting at least 50 SPAMs per day on hotmail.com. I think the only way to get out of this to to stop using hotmail. Unfortunately, this is my primary email account.:(

Thanks for the heads up.
I wonder when they changed it.
They should have notified us just like Yahoo! did.
It pisses me off that they didn't let me know they were going to change my settings.

Hi,
Try this e-mail client. Foxmail 4.1 . Its Chinese but they have an english version.
Just click on the english fox mail icon at the bottom of the home page the next page that comes up in lower left hand side find were it says "english version download now". It can set up a hotmail account real easy. Its in the help index if you have a problem.
Been using it for a couple of weeks and "ZERO SPAM" nada, nothing you never even see it. I don't no why it just works.

And best of all it's free and no registration. It was recommended in another news group.

I use OE as default and poco mail with no problems with Foxmail. Win XPpro IE6 Opera 6.02
Enjoy

3-4 days ago my Hotmail account was closed because they said that I had not signed in for the past 30 days. I use it everyday! They erased all my messages. I resigned back in after they closed it but the damage had been done. Anyone else have their acct closed like this?

Hi guys,

I use since two years one custom filter that blocks out about 95% of the spam messages.

The trick is this: very often, spammers won't include their name when sending a message, so their email adress shows up in the "name" field.

Example:
mail from friend:
From:
Bob Jones
Address:
bobjones@hotmail.com

mail from spammer:
From:
spammer@spam.com
Address:
spammer@spam.com

So you just have to create a filter that blocks all message that contain "@" in the NAME field. Be VERY CAREFUL not to exclude the "@" in the adress field, or else you won't be getting anymore messages at all.
Other than that, block out the usual words ("sex", "viagra", "vacation", "diploma", "herbal", "natural", "free", "young teens", etc) from the subject field.

Just looked at the rules for .NET. Rules are that they peddle all of your information to anyone who will pay Microsoft for it. MS behavior history makes it clear that it doesn't matter what boxes you check or uncheck, MS will lie and sell your info regardless. Recently told my friends that my Hotmail address will be used for junk, because of the increase in spam and the constant usage restrictions. Just changed all of my Profile information. Not really worth even that effort now. .NET = the end of Hotmail?

Jeez! I wonder how long this has been going on....hmmm... 6 mos. ago I had to change my security settings to exclusive. Now all that junk goes to my junk mail folder and I still have to check it to make sure that something that I intended to view doesn't end up deleted.

Well, I went and checked the settings and sure enough, they had those damn boxes checked! I know that this is my junk mail account, but can't we have control over even our own e-mail settings?! Not with MicroSux!!!

Thanks for the tip jimbo!
