Thank you. Hotmail had modified my settings also. Saving my time is just as hot a deal to me as saving my money. I get about 30 or so spam emails a day.

To fight spam:
1. never reply for opt-out or unsubscribe or removed. Because not every site's unsubscribe work. Second, it just let them know that it is an "active" account, so that they can sell your email address to other site. In terms you get more in result.
2. In hotmail's option, check the "Mail Display Settings"-> " Message Headers" to Full or Advanced, now you get a better hint on who send you. Most of the "yahoo" or "hotmail" account is just fake name they put on the.
If they indeed from yahoo or hotmail or other . forward to the website's spam dept. to have the account banned.
3. Try to block the whole site rather than the single address will keep to the hotmail block max. You may release some after a while. Last In first out if you are up to the max.
4. open more accounts. Abandon ship when it sink. Keep your personal account to your friends/family only.

Under options ----> Junk Mail Filter, set it to High
Under options ----> Junk Mail Deletion, set it to Immediate

also, use your imagination to set some Custom Filters - you can filter out much of the spam with their most commonly used words such as "debt", and most of them use numbers in their addys.

Under Hotmail if you have junkmail set to delete immediately it may empty legitimate mail messages. Example, seti@home sends your password and almost always ends up in junkmail bin.

This thread is nonsense. I set those privacy options a long time ago and they're still set. What probably happens is (and many web sites do this) is that they don't ask you these questions when you sign up. You have to then go in and alter your profile.

Remember this people, hotmail is free (the basic service anyway) so why knock it? Too much spam? Go get another account elsewhere.

I don't understand how microsoft can be so rich yet still spam their own hotmail users like that. what is their problem? other email services aren't that bad about it, and they aren't nearly as rich as MS. sometimes i wonder if those guys have a soul..... -don't mean to MS bash, they get enough of that, but it is warranted this time.
