Cold Day

Anyone ever get out of school because it's too cold?

Right now it's about one degree fair-en-hite and tomorrow's high is only seven. Apparently all the schools in the area are closed, including ours, because it's too cold. There isn't even half an inch of snow on the ground. We've been waiting for a day off for the past four years, and it's nice to get it senior year of high school. I guess since it's our superindendent's last year here as well, he's just being nice, because unless there's a good eight feet of snow on the ground, we go to school.

It happened in our area one year when the temps dropped suddenly to -19 F (this was in WA state). There were a lot of problems with cars, pipes freezing, etc.

I remember they cancelled school because it was too cold once in middle school.

Now I'm in college, it's -11 out, and I'll still have class 🙁.

I only have one class tomorrow, but I'm not gonna be a happy camper fairing the below 0 weather to walk 6 blocks or so for a freakin french class. :|

Edit: Apparently, with the windchill it's supposed to hit -17 tomorrow here in the middle of the day. That's special.

Fahrenheit.

The only time school would get cancelled here is due to it being under -20...and that's just because it costs too much to heat the school (not like they ever did, I wore my coat every day).

It's supposed to be 79 here tomorrow in Phoenix...so i don't think they'll close the building at work. 😀

Ah another Cleveland person. Consider yourself lucky, I have a night class tomorrow at Tri-C and as far as I can tell it's still on. Goddamn winter.

When I was in high school they cancelled school for a couple of days. One of those days the temperature dipped to -22F.

It's currently -6F outside.

Yeah clevelanders...we have the best damn snowplowers in the business but we can't handle a little cold.

The Greater Columbus area is encountering similar weather ( <shock, dismay> ). Last I checked, there weren't any schools open in Fairfield County, and many schools in Franklin, Licking, Muskingum, Perry, Hocking, Pickaway, and neighboring counties are shutting down as well.

It's unfortunate that the weather isn't bad enough for the appropriate Sheriff's offices to declare L3 Weather Emergency. As it is, I'll have to put up with a whole lot of women complaining about their respective drives in to the office tomorrow.

<edit>

Why is > ) . triggering >). ?

My girl is going to school tomorrow. All the schools around her closed except the one she goes to.. Very odd.. I watched the charts waiting for it to close but it never did.. Its going to be -27 including windchill :Q Thats insane to be trying to walk in...

They cancelled school here in midwest Michigan; first time in my fourth-year career that occured before 5 PM (and thus affects me).

Unfortunately, tomorrow (today?!) was supposed to be the day they told us who is on our senior project team and what our project is. Now we have to come in Tuesday at 7 AM to find out. One more day of waiting.... why!?!?

oh and to answer op question, yes all the time. I also miss class for - too hot, too windy, too rainy, ITS SNOWING!!I!I!, too hungover, too tired, feeling a little under the weather, etc.

Nope never did closed school for to cold... Lived in VT. There was a few weeks were it would be -40 with wind chill and they never closed the things.

I wish they did, where I am right now(Indiana) the wind chill is 12 below and I'm freezing my exposed appendages off; I'm an Oregonian damn it, I'm not built for this.😛 Now if it ever got this cold in the valley area in Oregon(Salem/Portland/Eugene), I'd expect classes to be canceled, just as if any amount of snow fell.

Edit: It seems all the local schools are delayed 2 hours. It seems even the Hoosiers can't handle this :Q

missing class in college sucks. totally fvks you over.

Agreed... I'm terrified my brother-in-law's girlfriend might go into labor on Tuesady. My wife has been asked to be there, which means I get the kids, and Tuesday is the mid-term... I can't imagine trying to explain that to the instructors.

I'm sure I still have to go to work tomorrow. It cost millions to shut my facility down.

Not unless a pipe freezes and bursts. *crosses fingers*

yea its 1ºF here (feels like -15º), and I gotta be outside to go to PT at about 5:45.
I really hope the campus loop buses are running. if not, PT meets at about the furthest spot from where I live on campus. boo.

pansy, go to school.

it's 3 degrees fahreinheit that feel like -17 degrees fahreinheit. we still have school today. well, private universities don't care about weather. 🙁
