This has been mentioned already but I will repeat it here again.
I have both a duron 600/A7V and Tbird 800/Iwill KK266 combos. Crucial Caas 2 SDRAM in both cases. On both boards I got the same problem - yeah cold booting. This only occurs when you try to o/c at real high speeds more than the default of a mere increase of say .10 core volt can take.
My Solution (assuming that you have already unlock the CPU and have proper cooling) was to connect all L7 bridges which gives a default core of 1.85 volts. This is OK for all AMD cpus so do not worry (remember you must have a good Heatsink/fan and it must be installed properly with thermal compound or Arctic silver - otherwise forget it).
Before this I could only achieve 7 x 133 for the Tbird 800/Iwill and had a problem restarting everytime. Had to switch off and on numerous times. Now it runs at 141 x 7 ROCK STABLE.
With the duron600/A7V it could only hit 918 - now its at 979 ROCK STABLE.
Recommended Heatsinks are Hedgehog, Taisol CGK742092, Fop32-1/38, ALpha PEP, Swiftech etc. You guys know the drill here.
And of course although the cpu boots up at 1.85 voltage you can always set it at a lower level in BIOS depending on the optimal settings for your particular overclock.

I will also spell out this cold boot problem in case some of you are wondering what the heck I am blabbering about.
Ever switch that AMD system and all that happens is power comes on, fans spin up and nothing. Or reset from Windows for whatever reason and it fails to reset - black screen. Hit the reset button a few times and it works or it doesn't. Or do a a shut down only to find that the only way to restart is to go back to 100FSB and then progress back to 133 etc etc etc. There U have it. Sounds familiar.

I get the cold boot problem with no overclocking whatsoever on my 1GHz T-Bird. I have noticed, though, that if I turn power off and let it sit for about 30 minutes or so, it will cold boot about 75% of the time doing it that way. I am currently building a computer for a friend with a 750MHz Duron, and her computer doesn't exhibit this cold boot problem at all. I have cold booted her machine about 10-12 times so far and it booted every time......

The duron operates at a lower voltage than the Tbird and will have less of a problem. If you have a cold boot problem at default speeds it is more than likely faulty HW and/or installation e.g. powersupply.

I had considered something different... I have a 1g, and I believe it's already at 1.85 (roughly, depending on where you read it).

I considered (with info from Tom's Hardware) of altering the L3, L4, and L6 to make it sort of default to like a 7.0 multiplier. Turning it into a 700 say (one which I know will go higher). Then I could set all range of FSB's, and since that momentary snap to efault at boot would be at such a low multiplier, that it should take it.

Anyone tried it? Any opinions?
