Cold Boot - Please Help

HI Guys, anybody help.

After being switched off for a period of say 12 hours when i try to boot PC I get the error 'Your AGP may have a problem'.

If I pull out power lead and reconnect it, it boots every time and no further problems.

I have the following bits:

Athlon 1400 (266 FSB)
Geforce Titanium 200
Maxtor 40 GB HD
CDRW 16x
DVD 16/48
Fortisimmo Soundcard
External Modem
3 Case Fans
CPU Coooler Fan
256 Ram

Although a small problem it is irritating.

Could this be:

1. A problem with MOBO.

2. A problem with Graphics card.

3. A problem with power unit not sending enough juice.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

You forgot to list what motherboard you have.

How large is your power supply, ie how many watts?

Sorry,

I have the following:

AOpen AK73 PRO(A) MoBo (KT133A) Chipset.

Generic (Cheap) 300Watt PSU

Hope that helps.

Cheers

It sounds like the power supply(as you suspect as well), as often is the case when using 300w generic PS with a 1.4 T-Bird set-up. The 1.4 needs alot of juice and the combined 5+&3.3+ output probably isn't cutting it. Sometimes increasing the CPU's vcore can resolve the problem, most times not. It may even be the mobo has a leaky capacitor or something. The free fix is to turn the power supply's switch to the off position until ready to use the system again. However, investing in a quality power supply is never a bad investment and if the problem persists you'll know it's the board. 😉

A cheap 300W power supply won't cut it in your system.

As DAPUNISHER says, invest in a good quality one.
