SooooooooooooooRRRy about that... I really thought it was AMAZON price didn't relize I clicked the wrong button... Sigh..... I figured 999 was too good to be true... Thank GOD I didn't buy it!

Wow, that's a very fine pitch/high resolution screen. That screen resolution is slighly higher than necessary for 1920x1080 HDTV.

It's $1436 new when you "Click for price". One used "floor model" is $999 from a private seller.

It's HDTV, so yes, it will show DVD's in progressive scan if your DVD player is progressive scan and you have it hooked up via component connection.

As the previous poster mentioned, the $999 price is from a 1/5 star third party seller that is a floor model.

The $1436 price isn't too bad. The cheapest on Pricegrabber is $1499 plus shipping at PC Mall.

This model is on sale at onecall.com for $1344.31. Shipping is about $200. They throw in a "Super Bowl Pack" - free microwave/vacuum/popcorn.

Toshiba 51H83 51-Inch HD Ready Rear Projection TV

If you're in the market for this size tv though it would probably be worth your while to save a few more sheckels and spring for a Cinema Series 51HX83 or 50HDX82.

You should edit the post title to include "$130 shipping." Afterall, this increases the price by 13%. Also putting Amazon in the title would tell me right off I have to pay tax, which would add almost $90 more for me.

I have this tv, it's actually really good. My friend bought the cinema series, model 51hx83 I believe, and it's not worth the extra money. I thought I might have noticed a slight improvement when watching HD, but it might have been the channel we were watching. DVD's and SD cable look identical.
