Talking about the H Chips, I recently compared the 8750H vs 7700HQ and 8300H vs 7300HQ via leaked benchmark scores, as I dont have these chips on hand I cannot control all conditions so results may vary, but I attempted to remove as many variables as possible by using same OEM, OS and Same or very close GeekBench 4 release

OK you’re telling me that’s real. I had not seen it before. So what I learned is it is real.

However, I’m still wondering if GFXBench can be easily spoofed or not.

I would expect similar scores.

I wasn’t looking at the scores actually. I was just wondering if the chip was real and if these entries could be easily spoofed.
 
Can i use my noctua d15 from an amd am4 mb ryzen setup for a 1151 socket? Do i need something extra?

Was thinking of playing a bit with the 8700k.
 
If you have the LGA 115X mounting kit I don't see why not. It should be included on the standard box.

I installed my D14 from my 2500k to my 8600k straight away. Just unmount and remount. Same holes.

If you bought the AM4 edition which only comes with AM4 mounting bracket, you will need to buy the bracket separately.

If you bought the regular D15 it comes with 1151 mounting brackets.
 
Can anyone confirm or deny the rumors, that on 19th March we will see AT LEAST new motherboards with new chipsets released?

Supposedly that is the date that we should also see the new CPUs released and QLC SSDs.

I am asking for confirmation or denying this rumor.

I am pretty sure its the am4 edition i got. I can find a bracket that works for 1150 i guess it should be okey?

Is there a 390 or 470 whatever incomming? Man its like a good year ago we got 270 then 370.
What about a new arch to replace skl instead of 5 new chipsets. Lol
Man you are getting dizzy with all those new sockets and chipset since sb. At lest we moved from 4 to 6 cores in 8 years time.
Gota love the 90ties...

I guess its more like a microcode change for the most part. I always pay the intel oc segmentation tax.
Just glad they dont call them founders edition but only use a "k".
 
If I recall correctly, we'll see a lot of T-designated Coffeelake CPUs and H/B mobo chipsets. So now maybe people can get something other than Z370 for their 8400s.
 
Just ordered a 8700k and a asrock 370m pro4 micro atx board. Would have gone 2700x way but i have some small trouble with sound so will try another board with other caps and codec. I am quite hysterical here.

Would like to go for a fairly lean and simple oc perhaps at standard voltage. What is generally needed for say 4.8 on an average cpu?

Any tips for asrock 370 pro4 is welcome.

Depends on your cpu. Set it at 1.3 volts, check temps and lower from there. Or up the multiplier. Make sure all cores are running 48x as well, not just 1 or 2 etc.

The only credible rumor seems to be from Computerbase.de, that said 300-series chipsets along with mainstream CFL chips are due early April. It's unclear if mobile chips will be released on the same date.

There was nothing regarding the QLC 660p SSDs though.
 
Ok so got my 8700k up and running and ram ran 3000 as specced out the gate. Easy stuf. Nice to work with a mature platform. Old stuff got it charms.
And cpu is cheap stuff these days. One year ago a 7700 was like nearly 30% more expensive as i recall. At last after 8 years, things is moving the right way. Gotta love those Ryzens ! 🙂
Is there any meaning in oc the ram from 3000 c15 to say 3200 c16 for games?
Do i have to update bios now due to all this meltdown issue what not or what is the recomandation?

RAM oc fron 3000 to 3200 only makes sense if you can keep timings the same (C15), otherwise it may not be an allround winner.

As far as patches go, it all depends on your security requirements. Updated OS and software may be enough for normal daily usage, but keeeping (any) sensitive data on that machine would be 100% worth paying the performance cost.

Pesonally I would patch and get on with my life.

PS: i’ve been running 3466 C16 on hynix based 3200 C16 sticks ever since CFL launched, so depending on luck there may be some room for oc. anything higher gets complicated really fast though.
