My work has about 20 employees and a fairly large kitchen (about as big as a decent sized house).

We make coffee on site.

Why do so many people buy coffee from starbucks? Does your work not have a kitchen/coffee machine?

Because the office coffee machine hasn't been properly cleaned since Reagan was President?

QFT, and Starbucks probably uses a better quality coffee then Folgers in bulk.

Me? I have my own supply of coffee and tea I keep on hand.

The coffee machines at my workplace get cleaned regularly, and the vendor supplies us with Peet's coffee.. French Roast, Columbia, and some kind of Decaf. I never go to Starbucks.. but I know some at the office do cause they want their extra 1000 calories or find Peet's to be too strong.

I'll add a twist, our office coffee maker is stocked with starbucks coffee lol.

My building has a starbucks on the ground floor so sometimes I'll go in there for an americano. I prefer dunkin donuts drip coffee unless starbucks has the guatamala blend (rare as fuck)

At my dad's office, they provide Green Mountain coffee in single serving packs. People still insist on going to Starbucks, even though Starbucks << Green Mountain. It's probably an image thing.

The stupidest thing about it is all the money people are dumping on coffee every week by buying Starbucks once a day, 5 days a week, for ~50 weeks a year.

They want you to see them with a Starbucks cup, period. Why? Starbucks coffee tastes like shit. We all know it.

I have seen people in line at the coffee machine at work REUSING Starbucks cups. Then they walk the halls for 15 mins, being sure to stop in everyone's office and cube to show off their stupid ass Starbucks cup.

I think you're reading into this too much. Some people prefer Starubucks coffee over regular grind at home. Personally, I like darker bitter coffee. I don't use sugar in my coffee and Dunkin Donuts, Green Mountain and other blends tend to be a bit watery for my tastes, especially in a shared environment. I see a lot of people dump several sugars and half a cup of cream into a coffee. That's candy, not coffee.

Folgers > starsucks

cafe here makes coffee all day so its always fresh, its like 1.10 for a 20 Oz and you never have to worry about someone not making a new pot + they have more then 1 kind/flavor

The people here live off of Folger's "Custom Roast". Unfortunately nobody knows how to make a decent pot of coffee always too strong or too weak so I stopped drinking coffee at work.

People like holding the cup - "oh look at me i drink starbucks coffee."

There's this guy at work, huge guy who lost like 50lbs. Now in our meetings I see him with a starbucks coffee cup. I guess it makes him feel better. I can tell he thinks he's a hot shot cuz he now has brand new notepads that probably cost $40 at staples. I prefer my Bic pen and notepad from WB Mason! 😀

We have Flavia coffee wich is disgusting. I bought myself a 1-cup coffee maker and bought D&D coffee beans from Genarudi.

The coffee we have in or kitchen, which is free, is terrible. I've been considering getting a small grinder, french press, and electric tea kettle for my desk.

The coffee where I work is pretty bad. I don't like Starbucks coffee either though, it is over-roasted garbage.

I make my own coffee at home in the morning and that's pretty much all the coffee I drink for the day. I buy the 5lb bag of Deans Beans Moka Sumatra. Is that considered bulk? 😀 I've tried a couple different roasts of Green Mountain coffee and it is also very good.

Sounds great.

Just curious, however...what's with repeating that "Starbucks is over-roasted" bs.

Let's be honest and quit repeating FUD.

It may be over priced, it may be over-hyped, it may be overpopulated, but no; starbucks coffee (of which their are several blends/roasts) is NOT "over-roasted."

well its certainly roasted quite hard. dark roasts from other coffee companies is similar.

as for folgers, a dark roast folgers probably fool most people in blind test vs starbucks.

Reminds me of when I went to a great restaurant.. a guy at the table next to us loved the coffee he got. Asked the waitress what type it was and she said it was Nescafe. It smelled pretty damn good from where I was sitting too.

Picky coffee people. If you drink coffee every day you develop a preference. I only drink it when I'm hung over or sick or tired, so I grab whatever I think might taste the best and drink it.

I think ours is actually filtering the water through Reagan's corpse.

It's that bad.

McDonalds coffee tastes better.

I make coffee at my desk with a manual filter cone, but sometimes I still just feel like getting a starbucks, which they have on the ground floor here.

As for the starbucks taste/strength/over-roasting, if you haven't tried it in a while, they recently switched their main coffee to a new blend. Its no longer the over-roasted charred tasting variety of before - its much more drinkable and "coffee like".
