You're better off without. It will give you a caffeine/sugar high, and you will crash. Even more so with an energy drink. If you want a really good boost that will last you, take a multi-vitamin, and have a piece of fruit for breakfast. One apple provides more energy than two cups of coffee...

If your not hungry in the morning, (like me) down that multi with a glass of OJ. (Oh and buy the good stuff. If it's not 100%, you may as well drink a pepsi...)

Caffeine pill + a drink you actually enjoy.

Or get to sleep sooner. My mental capacity gets really dull as my sleep drops past 7hrs. I mean that I can get really stupid, as in momentarily forgetting the procedure for making hot dogs. That happens at around 4-5 hours of sleep. Actions requiring more than one thing done in series get difficult, as I forget successive steps, or do them out of order.
Waking up after so little sleep: also not fun.

I'm not OP, but I feel like responding to this. :p

Sleep is a good thing -- even though I'm usually up into the middle of the night (case in point, it's 1:37 AM right now). Depending on what I'm doing the following day, I'll get anywhere from 4 to 10 hours of sleep the night before. My day-to-day job requires 4-5 hours of sleep minimum, and that's really not enough, but I make it work. When I'm going to be operating heavy machinery on the farms or something, I try to get closer to 8-10 hours of sleep. Forgetting where the emergency hydraulic relief switch is during an emergency is scary... I'd rather lose quite a few hours to sleep the night before than potentially screw up when I really need to do something important. :)

I usually do one heaping teaspoonful for each cup--the teaspoon being a regular spoon and not a measuring spoon.

I use a measuring cup for the whole pot, so I don't have to count up to 8 teaspoons and because it's more difficult to measure whole beans in a spoon. When I'm at a friend's house though, I do the measurements as I mentioned above.

I agree. I forgot to mention it in a previous post, but the liquid flavored creamers taste better than the powder flavored creamers. You have to refrigerate the liquid ones though.

Just pick up a box of "Morning Spark" flavor packets. Orange and Cranberry are pretty good. Same kick as a cup of coffee without the colon busting coffee sh!ts.

I couldn't imagine drinking coffee in college. A two hour biology lecture and having to make an emergency run to the can? No thanks.

Get some Lemon Lift tea. Brew a cup, let it steep, then pour over ice in a big cup. Tasty and expeditious with a good dose of caffiene.

IMO, coffee is an acquired taste. It's usually kind of bitter and unpleasant when you first start drinking it, which is why most new coffee drinkers use milk and sugar to hide the taste. Myself, I like my coffee black and medium strong. If I have to pour it out and cut it with a knife when I get the cup full, then it's just a bit too strong, (except when I was working on the water) but I don't like it so weak that it's more like tea either.
Some of the flavored creamers are OK I guess, but IMO, most are like having a cup of candy. Some of the flavored beans are ok, but will depend on your tastes.

I hated it before but a couple years ago I started drinking it and I love it now. It grows on ya. I just drink it black, no sweeteners or creme or whatever people put in it.

less bitter stuff is lighter roasts
bonus is they also have more caffiene
maybe get a espresso machine or milk frother, makes creamier coffee drinks.

Black coffee is OK, but coffee and cream taste GOOD. I don't know what you're talking about, OP!

Sugar..much less Splenda in coffee? Teh ugh!! Get used to it, or get a good coffee grinder+brewer combo and fresh beans with good cream. Seriously, a good cup of coffee should taste as good as chocolate to most people (it just tastes different but it's as good).

And oh wow it makes you feel so good, especially during workouts. No pain at all (relatively). The stuff permeates you.
