CODMW2 - Leaning

Especially since the single player campaign is filled with enemies hiding around corners, just waiting for you to run around. Or they hide on the other side of your cover.

I'm pretty sure you couldn't lean in MW1 either, so I don't get why this is such a big issue. Most FPS games don't let you lean.

If most games do let you lean, I must not know about it or it must be so worthless that I don't use it. The last game I played where I actually used lean was Soldier of Fortune 2. Even then it could be a bit of a PITA to use (not to mention how it fucked up the hit boxes and people exploited it.)

Have you played COD 4 just to mention 1. Leaning in both single and MP is awesome in that game. There are many more that allow leaning. I only point COD4 out because it doesn't make since to take it out of the successor.

I think it was pretty dumb to take out but I don't miss it really. MW2 is quite arcadey, a bit more than COD4, so I rarely have a moment where I wish I wanted to lean.

It would have been more helpful for singleplayer.

I also think it's dumb that they have never implemented fire control switching (auto, single shot, etc). I can understand making some guns semi in MP for balance (like G3 or FAL) but for the rest in SP and MP I almost always want semi auto.

I never realised how much I used lean until MW2 and OpFlash 2 removed it. Even in SP I feel exposed not being able to lean.

Heh, good point. In MW2, if you have time to lean then you're dead. Someone will either snipe your head or knife/gun you down from behind because it's so fast paced and people are spawning all over the place.

This is not a go slow/camp type of game.

Lean just isn't needed in this game, as others have mentioned. It would definitely be used if it was there, but the frontlines are constantly changing and the maps have very few GREAT camping spots, so it's not the end of the world not having lean.

I managed to do ok without it, primarily because I couldn't coordinate my hands to make use of the extra keys (I'm so busy with crouch, jump, strafe, and run, reload, and swap weapons that there's not much time for anything else).

I did get my ass handed to me a couple of times in MW1 by people who made great use of leaning, though. Nothing like peppering the corner of a building with half your clip (expecting them to move out and take a shot) only to be picked off by someone who's barely visible.

I guess I just miss running around with a pistol. Lean shoot shoot run to another corner lean and shoot again.

Good points on the fire control switching. I think I miss that more then the ability to lean but then I just use the FAL when I don't want to waste ammo.

hmm, so it's just a twitch fest huh. Pass! I'll play quake if i want that.

Just because you dont know about a very common feature in FPS games, doesnt mean its useless.

The only FPS which I have played religiously (on multiplayer) are CSS, BF2, and Quake 3. None required leaning. I'm in the camp that never uses lean. If I see an enemy, they get bullets to the face. No sneaking around 😛

I miss leaning greatly. Even if you don't lean it doesn't make sense for IW to drop it. It wouldn't been greatly useful in SP. And in MP - game modes like Demolition, Search and Deystroy, and anything hardcore are much less arcadey and slow-paced, and thus lean would be very useful.

I miss lean and it is totally needed especially if you are playing on harder difficulty settings, sometimes you just move a step and two or three bullets is all it takes to get you down.

rofl @ the "lean is not needed" posts. When a shooter comes out without prone or crouch, then will they be "not needed" because the game is too fast-paced?

Taking out leaning totally removes a huge aspect of many players' playing styles.
