I've just downloaded several tv shows from kazaa and there are a lot that are not working on my windows media player and/or powerdvd... I am assuming that I dont have updated codecs or what ever on my media player (I dont know much about this).. is there something that I can download that will play absolutely any video file at any sample rate so I dont have to worry about getting updates? (I dont have internet on my home pc)

Thanks

Do you have the divx codec installed? That is the biggest one, after that it is kind of a crapshoot. Sometimes if you look at the advanced file properties you can tell which codec was used to encode the file and then do a search on google or Kazaa for that codec. There are several "codec packs" out there, one of them probably has what you need.

One of the best programs out there in my opinion, GSpot.

It's a small program that you open up your .avi in and it will tell you what audio and video codec it's in, and if it is installed on your PC or not. I always had a hell of a time trying to figure out what codec a movie was in until I got this program.
