There are several awesome video simulations of the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies colliding here

I used to let my students watch a couple each year, allowing me to tie together how science, mathematics, and computer science can merge and produce something breathtaking.

Unfortunately, my computer was "upgraded" at school and I can no longer play those files. And, my hands are somewhat tied as far as downloading software, etc. at school. At home, I could figure it out with no problem, but my choice is dial-up - and I can't download one of those files this week.

Anyone able to quickly figure out which codec is necessary? When the video begins to play, WMP displays a "downloading codec" followed by an error downloading it. I'd solve the problem completely by myself, but need to stay under the radar - we're not even allowed to change the wallpaper on our desktop or the settings on our computers. I still take a few liberties and break some rules, i.e. I *will not* use 800x600, and I'm going to install the necessary codec (since tech support at school couldn't figure it out..)

if u are unable to find a codec to play a file use "G spot" its a program that helps you identify what codec a file needs to be played...
