Car '96 EX 5-speed. This is a cylinder 1 misfire. Does anyone know what typically causes this? Do any of those fuel injector cleaners work (for example Lucas)?

If your injectors are so clogged as to throw a code, there isn't much that is going to help them.

When were the plugs last replaced?
 
Start with basic stuff first.

Plugs, wires, and cap/rotor. Replace those and reset the light. most of the time it fixs that code.

I'm not sure. I haven't replaced them. I'll check with Honda to see if they have been done at the dealership.
