COD4 Multiplayer Stats

I bought COD4 2 days ago. I have yet to play multiplayer, but read about multiplayer stats not being held on a centralized server. Instead, the stats are located somewhere on the client hard drive instead. Some players have gone to some non-registered servers and had their stats erased.

Anyone heard whether or not they're going to change this?

i hope they change it. personally, i'd like to see the rank system removed, but that will never happen.

there are ways to back up your stats file though.

I was surprised they didnt do this server side. I loaded it up on a secondary computer awar from home to play and was saddened to see I have to start from scratch. Ill backup the data and move it between both machines I guess.

I spent a lot of time tonight working on my stats basically just to check out the unlocks, etc...

Be sure to turn anti-aliasing off for multiplayer. It increased my accuracy a ton... I have a long way to go before I'm nearly as good on COD4 as I am on BF2. (not saying I'm particularly good on either. )

It has been fixed. I knew someone who was a commander got erased then got to level 30 got erased. A new patch is out but I think it was fixed other than the patch.

im thinking about buying cod4....can the "powers" like stronger bullets or faster reload be disabled? if not then are they noticeable or annoying?

disabled? on server side maybe, but not sure. Even the hardcore mode (more realistic) servers still allow them.

It would be nice to find some servers that don't if thats possible. i doubt it would be very popular though.
