Nope, this one's from the CD but it hasn't given me problems ever since before. And I'm afraid to update my network drivers, my whole network might go all haywire. Don't know much about networking eh.

Update: Ran OCCT just now for a quick 10 minutes and it doesn't reach the 70c mark. Mostly, 65 but it did come up to 69c which is still under the threshold am i right? Also tested prime95 for a couple of hours under small ffts and mixed and still stable. I'm ruling out the CPU as the cause of the problem.

Guys help! Stupid restarting error still occurs whenever something huge occurs like an airstrike in COD4. It might be some ram problem already.
Other games work really fine and smooth, only call of duty which is really weird considering I play much more demanding games than cod.

update directx, os drivers, updates, & patches, and .net? fresh install of game & updates, and removal of drivers/re installation of video card? defrag hdd, are any processes using cpu cycles? do you get the hitching online and offline multi/single? do you get the same problem in another 3d shooter? have you tried lowering to lowest possible game settings/graphics/resolution to see if you still get the hitching? from this point you can enable higher settings one at a time until you find the one giving you problems. cod4 is very customizable graphically.
good luck!
