What video card would I need to get playable FPS in Call of Duty 4 at 1680x1050? I am not a FPS whore(if I get 30FPS I am fine) but I do like to turn most things up.

I believe a 3850 would be sufficient for that resolution, COD4 is a pretty well optimized game, and it's not as laggy as Crysis on the same hardware.

8800GT is perfect for it. it'll still crunch a bit in smoke clouds if you have all settings maxed, but other than that it's smooth sailing. (3GHz c2d here)

I play at 1280x960 2xAA 8xAF with no noticeable dips below 30fps on my 3850, so I'd imagine that paired with a good C2D/C2Q, it'll handle 1680x1050 just fine.

ATI HD3850 256MB plays it great at 1680x1050. Can turn most details up high and still get great fram rates. I'd opt for the 512MB version if they have any more for $160 after rebate. Otherwise the 256MB version still plays it great!

3850 512mb would be your best bet. Mine with my AMD X2 4200 can play the game fine at high resolutions maxed out. With a modern core 2 duo, it will be even faster.

8800GTS 640 @ stock plays 1680x1050, 4xAA and all settings to high. Smooth as can be between 40-60 fps. This is on a C2D E6420 @ stock.

My 8800GTS 512 runs it super smooth (60+ frames) with everything on extra and 4xAA and 16xAF. Looks and plays like a dream ! :)
