what i really need is a mmorpg to satisfy me. hurry up Age of Conan!!!

Are you getting this when you try playing MP with PB enabled?

Yes. I haven't really tried booting it up without PB, but when I first installed the patch and checked PB, it crashed after loading for 10 seconds.

whats your IP address? is it stock CoD2 or do you have mods?

If you have mods then you have to uninstall the mods first and disable your antivirus

I just reinstalled COD2. As soon as I enabled Punk Buster, it crashes. Without it, I'm ok. So much for Anti-cheat.

i installed the patch with av and firewall running, without deleting the mods of other servers (not sure why that would have any affect?) and enabled PB. has been running fine for 2 days.

I did too at first then got the "Awaiting Key Authorization" all day. I did read somehwere to take out the mods first but differnent things happen with different systems.

Yeah, I've read of people having PB crashing the game, but not of a fix yet.

Well I guess you can't cheat if the game crashes.

But yeah, the developers need to pull their finger out and deliver more solid updates. 1.2 was too late and delivered too little.

It's still a fantastic game but we need something done about the DX9 performance.

For some reason I can't play. I can get onto the FK w00t server that I play on, but it only lets me choose spectate mode. Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? its a public server and I enabled punkbuster. I dont know what else to do.

after playing awhile on 1.2, i think they screwed something up.

i can stand in front of an enemy and unload into him and not ahve a single bullet hit.
its like there's some kind of bullet dodging thing going on or bullets aren't registering the hit.

Hit the number you want anyway. Even though they are not listed they are still there.

have you noticed that when running behind an enemy, you can't hit him? like i can be running 3 feet behind an enemy and cannot hit him. that happened before the patch though. doesn't make sense. i realize that while running, accuracy is going to be bad, but not when you've got a full auto machine gun and you're 3 feet behind the guy...


also, is there a problem with a server not showing that PB is enabled? the server i normally play on doesn't show that PB is enabled. After the patch i tried to join another server that did show pb enabled and i couldn't join. well i found that pb wasn't enabled on my client. once i eneabled it i could join. my regular server lets me join even without having pb enabled on my side. i'm thinking its not enabled on this server but they keep insisting it is. as i've said before, i believe some of them are hacking and this just only seems to prove to me that they are.

cod2 was working great since i first got it in feb. but as of 2 weeks ago the MP just sits at the splash screen and takes 30 seconds-1minute to load and it shows up as "not responding" in the task manager until it finally loads. i even reformatted to try and fix the problem(after reinstalling cod2 itself) and it still did it!

was hoping the patch would fix it but nope, sigh. if i disable my network card, it boots up just fine and fast.

the sp boots up fine either way.

Check this website out. It says that the PPSH is nothing more than a room clearer and useless for everything else with an accuracy of 3 out of 10. WOW! What BS! People snipe with those things. An accuracy of that gets me killed in a fraction of a second.

Definitely disappointed that they didn't patch this gun. With situations like these I'm just... what the hell is going on with these developers?

If Punkbuster is enabled on the server then you must PB enabled to play on that server. If you can join without PB enabled then they do not have it enable.

I had to enable to PB on my server by going to Url/cod2/main/players/default/config_mp.cfg

and put in seta sv_punkbuster "1" in that page, to get my working. As PB is not enable on the server side when you install it.

yeah, thats what i thought. i posted on their forum about it. 1st resposne i got was that it was on, then i posted a screenshot of the broweser paeg and server info showing it off. I explained that i could still join with pb off on my end. then someone says its not on and that they will add it later. i had at least 3 of their members tell me in-game that it was on when it isn't.

i've had that happen a few times too. just end it in task manager and try again. usually gets it working.

If they have not installed it yet but keep saying they will then your right. They are playing with hacks and unless you want to join them in the hacking club, I would find another server. I go to hackers forums all the time and right now thet are working on a cheat for PB to wall hack.


I keep up on that crap so I know what I am looking for .

Now that PB is enabled I think I'll have to reinstall this sucker. I really wanted more of a COD:UO2 than a COD2. Oh, well.

I remember in the original COD a number of people that were monster shots who disappeared forever the day PB came out.
