CoD: World At War (Wii)

I read some reviews and it doesnt look 1/2 bad. I just have a PC and a wii and wanted to see how a FPS did on the wii. Also wanted to deviate from the children games for a moment. Is this a good one to pick up?

IGN seems to really like it. Unlike creating just a ps2 version and porting it, this version was actually a downported version of the ps3/360 version, so it actually looks quite nice, and has the pointing controls for aiming, which is always nice.

The graphics are decent, although the frame rate could be a little better at times. It's a fun game, despite the visuals. The 360/ps3 and especially the PC controls are certainly more precise, but I just find the aiming with the wiimote to be more fun in a strange way. If the wii is the only system you got, its def worth it.

I just dont see the point of it. It looks like a total ripoff and halo and the matrix jammed together. Its supposedly going to have some of the the most realistic and impressive graphics....for the Wii, which makes them not really that good in the first place.

For some reason it just seems like its going to be the special olympics of FPS games.

Wow, thanks for that brilliant insight Captain Obvious. What would we do without your constant fountain of all knowledge?

i'm in the minority on this, but I could never get use to FPS console controls on the PS2, so for me, the only console that has an intuitive feel for FPS is the Wii. It's kind of sad cuz I wish I could have it all- good graphics and good controls.

However, if I had to pick between the two, good controls is definitely more important than graphics. It's the reason why SF2 is more popular than MK, Starcraft more popular than C&C Generals, Counterstrike more popular than Unreal Tournament, and so on. Good responsivenes means more involved and immersive gameplay.

The wii fps controls are certainly more intuitive and immersive. The way you have to still your hand to make those really long shots, or the way you can go into a room and spray around like a madman just feel so right. Still, I probably have a harder time taking people down as fast with the wiimote than on dual analog.

I just finished WaW for the Wii. Easily the best FPS for the Wii (if we dont count metroid prime 3). The graphics are passable, and the audio is alright...but the audio for WaW (specifically gunshots and explosions) on any platform is pretty terrible.
