What I got is a system that my friend bought. It's a 2.6GHz P4 with onboard video and only 3 PCI expansion slots. He wanted to play better games than the intel onboard graphics allowed so we got him a Radeon 9100pro PCI card for the system. There is nothing in the BIOS about disabling the onboard video, only a place to set the video to be AGP or PCI, and with the addition of the new card we of course chose PCI.

The system automatically installs the intel graphics even if you uninstall it from windows so the only options seems to be disabling it.

So anyway games like Max Payne 2 and Ghost Recon work fine, but when you try to run COD you get an error and it won't run. We have tried both 4.2 and 4.3 Catalysts and the latest Omega drivers all to no avail. All result in the same error which reads:

Could not load OpenGL. Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your video card from the manufacturer's web site.

Then inside the box it reads as follows:

C:\PROGRA~1\CALLOF~1\main\pak6.pk3 (3 files)
C:\PROGRA~1\CALLOF~1\main\pak5.pk3 (4858 files)

If anyone has any help I'd appreciate it. We may have to send the vidcard back. I will try to run another opengl game on it ASAP but he lives 20 miles away (round trip) and all I have is a motorcycle and it's raining so it may be a few days.

Going to try that ASAP....but as of yet, no. See my friend is new to computers and I have to help him along so it means lots of work over the phone.

There should be a way to disable onboard video.

What mobo is it and is it running the latest BIOS?

It's a Gateway system. Onboard video is disabled by virtue of video being set to PCI (the onboard is AGP) and the onboard video is disabled in device manager.

Sounds funny to me that onboard video would be considered AGP when there is no actual AGP slot?

It would be helpful to know the actual MOBO model, then I could access the manual online and advise you further.

Aida32 is a utility that can furnish you with that sort of info on that system.

BTW, I checked out the "spiritual guidance" link, what a hoot! I'll have to go back and read more when I get a chance.
(My Page is currently a dead link.)

In the "Options"tab of the advanced display properties, what does it say for Catalyst Version?

Fixed the problem!!!! Turns out that it was the onboard video drivers were un-uninstallable. In other words once installed the onboard video drivers were permanent. To fix it all I had to do is re-install windows without the onboard drivers.
