I remember Doom 3 was most expensive game ever on PC it was 55 bucks.

I dont like the fact its 60 dollars but they have to over charge because its new technology and harder and more programmers artists,, Everyone needs to get payed and they make millions and millions off it.

I skipped MW1 and MW2. I didnt like MW2 because they took away the leaning.

lean left left right etc...

I hope leaning is back in BlackOps ,, does anyone know wheter it will have it or not. Thanks

Mostly all new games on steam (at least the titles from big studios) cost $50-$60 new. I'm not sure if they are bringing back lean in BO, IMO it doesn't really matter. I didn't miss it in MW2.

FYI there already is a BO thread:

Actually, games like The Force Unleashed 2 and Dead Rising 2 came out at a $40 price point on Steam, Medal of Honor was $60, but Fallout New Vegas came out at $50. It seems right now that the only games coming out at a $50 price point are these military shooters from EA and Activision.

Personally, I'm not going to pay $60 for a game, $50 if it's something I'm really stoked about, and I grabbed Dead Rising 2 for $40 because $40 seems like a good price for something that's a console port.

But for $60, I can definitely wait for a sale to play through the Black Ops single player campaign, which is all I care about anyway.

When I posted on the Black Ops thread we already have, Amazon US were selling Black Ops for $54.44.

For those who plan on picking up the game and playing multiplayer for the next 6 months to a year I think $60 isn't a bad deal. Almost everything that comes to PC these days is a console port anyway, but I agree that $40 is a pretty decent price point for a new PC game. The lower cost of games helps to offset the expense of hardware.

$60 isn't bad

What is bad is the fact that this is a VERY old engine and another COD update (#6 to be exact).

I'm almost positive this is still an upgraded COD ORIGINAL engine (if not, COD2).

I'm not buying it, but as long as people buy it......Activision will not develop a new/proper game. To be honest with you guys I doubt Activision CAN even do it proper if money was no object (which btw, it shouldn't be with how much they made/are making)

I still don't think the engine they are using looks bad. Sure it is getting older, and yes the frostbite engine looks better, but on the other hand the COD engine is still pretty decent looking, and can run on less hardware. Plus Activision are not the only ones using old engines. A ton of modern games use the Unreal engine. Look at MOH (singleplayer). Brand new game using an old ass engine.

Didn't the last one (Cod whatever) come out like yesterday? They're milking the shit of the franchise, but after seeing that the top selling game on steam has been the pre-order for Black Ops at full price, they would be stupid not to. Milk the kiddies for all they're worth.

I spent $45 on Half-Life back in 2000. I still get use out of it through mods (CS, TFC, DoD).

Will I spend $60 on Black Ops? No. If it were $20, MAYBE.

Came out last November right? WTF. Shouldn't this be an expansion or some shit? Oh nm, it's Activision.

Still not as bad as ODST (Xbox 360). What a joke. 😵

$60 isn't bad for a game.

Paying $60 for a multiplayer game only to have to listen to the shriekey, whiny voices of people whose balls have yet to drop yelling f$%& every 2 seconds and thinking they are John Rambo is what's a non sell to me.

But you can turn off voice anytime.

They charge $60 cus they can. Can't blame them, blame the people buying it at that price.

What sucks even more is that companies generally screw the initial buyers by dropping prices drastically just a few months later to get more people playing on these multi-player titles.

I cannot pay 60 quid for a game either, it's simply too much. I didn't buy CODWAW on release either but I got it on a Steam weekend sale cheap and it was decent, well worth it at a reduced price.

Dude you should leave Black Ops 'til it's a reasonable price and see if you can pick up Modern Warfare cheap, I know the franchise isn't fashionable, but the first game was epic. Some of the single player missions are among the best I've played over the last fifteen+ years. You should try it before the graphics get to look too dated. Could be better than Black Ops anyway...

and MOH was horrible...

Starcraft 2 was/is 60 bucks new.

The developer's well publicized business model for the COD franchise is built on 1 year sequels.

Personally, I hate the single player aspects of the COD games. In fact, most "military" shooters are the SoS. At least modern warfare isn't set in vietnam, or WWII. But even modern military shooters are getting to be old hat now.

I bought COD-BO because I enjoyed the multiplayer aspects of COD-MW/MW2 (cheaters and all), and I amlooking forward to the new maps and the interesting multiplayer modes (1 in the chamber is particularly intriguing for some reason).

As for paying $60 bucks, the developers argument is that PC games haven't changed in price in many years (they have generally been around $40-50 new for 20+ years now), but the price of development has gone up significantly. Whether or not a game is worth $60 is up to the market.

For me, BO was worth 60 bucks, because I will probably play the multiplayer game for 40+ hours. Not many things in life provide a decent level of entertainment for ~$1.50/hour.

$60 isn't bad. Hell, a new 360/PS3 game costs $60 and you get less (ie lower resolution, no mods, etc). It is out of the norm to pay $60 for a PC game but even if you play the multiplayer for a month you get your money's worth.
