None of the graphical settings seem to make a difference, both single and multiplayer are extremely choppy. I've been able to play just about every game on high settings with my setup (though I haven't played Metro 2033)... don't see why this one should be any different.

*Ahem*

I'm not big into the Call of Duty series, but I did play the last few iterations on PC: MW, WaW, and MW2. My favorite? World at War. In fact I just got World at War a couple months ago, and it's way more awesome than both of the Modern Warfares. World at War has a level of intensity and epic-ness that is not present in the other games. It's like you're really going into battle. Yeah, it definitely has console graphics, but it's still a good-looking game. I dunno... I just think it's more fun. Keep in mind I am talking strictly about singleplayer though, I never got into CoD multiplayer.

It kinda makes be think Treyarch is the better developer than Infinity Whore.

Also, to stay on topic: Sorry to hear about the lag issues with codblops.

They already do this for console games. What's the difference if they allow it on PC as well?

If all PC games required having the disc in your drive, like consoles, then maybe they would, but all us PC gamers bitched about that and got our way, in addition to people hacking it out the wazoo with NoCD cracks.

Renting console games, think about how many copies of a game Blockbuster has to buy... Nobody would have to do that for renting games from Steam.

I think it would be great to rent games from Steam for X amount of days, but don't see it happening.

There were rumors floating around of a type of "trade-in" program for Steam that allowed you to resell your licenses. Chances are it would be for Steam store credit if it ever took off, but that would certainly be something I'm interested in. Then again, with all the ridiculous sales on Steam they would almost have to look into how much you paid for the game originally...

Actually, this is what steam did for me when I bought Divinity II Knight Saga last week. Neither Steam nor the developer advertised the hard 30 FPS cap that is coded into the game, and for me, that makes the game unplayable. I literally played for 30 seconds, turned the game off, and wrote steam for a refund. Their response was to give me a one time credit for the amount I spent on Divinity II, and a 15 day time period in which to spend that credit..

Lol. It's funny. A few weeks ago, everybody praises Treyarch for making a COD game that isn't MW2. Fast forward to today, a lot of people start bashing them.

I just find it funny. That's all.

i think some people just like to bitch about anything and everything, like my sister.

Sounds like I was smart to wait for this to hit bargain bin prices. By that time they should have all the bugs worked out.

Aside from lag issues, people are saying the graphics look bad on PC... Can anyone post a screen shot of what they actually look like? Most of the screen shots I've seen in reviews look pretty consistent with what we've come to expect from console ports on the PC, but the comments I'm reading make this game sound worse.

For example:

The ultimate insult (uintended) was when my grandson who is 13 came downstairs from playing on an X-box attached to an old 15 in analog TV and said "what is the matter with the graphics, they look like crap"!!!

...which just happens to be one of the funniest things I've read about a PC game in while.

Sounds like I was smart to wait for this to hit bargain bin prices. By that time they should have all the bugs worked out.

Only problem with that is that CoD games usually don't hit the bargain bun until the next one comes out a year later.

Like I posted earlier, Treyarch is great at the creative side of development. I just think they need some better coders because every game that they release is buggy for a couple of months after release until they finally get them patched out.

You guys haven't thought this through.. What you are describing is a demo, we have those but they are getting rare. Nobody is going to pay to rent a demo.

Most games can be beaten these days in just a few sittings, so why would they let us rent them for $10, beat them in those few days, and never buy them? This could only potentially work for multiplayer only games. Which is something we already have for most MMOs =p Even SC2 has trial periods for the multiplayer aspect.

As sweet as that would be to have an renting option for PC games, it probably isn't going to happen.

I'm not following you.

I think you may have not read my entire post. I said
Of course it would have to be a different setup for pc games. I don't see downloading the entire game as an option. There's the piracy issue.

Maybe having a level or 2 for sp, and a map for mp.

And yes, I know we have demos now. But the problem is we don't have demos for everything we want to try before we buy.

I bumped the textures down to "normal" to see if it would run better and here's what it looks like:

On high the textures are a bit more detailed, but still not nearly as good as MW2, or even MW1. Personally I don't think the dated graphics are a big deal. I just want the game to be playable.

On a side note I tried playing earlier and asked "is anyone having stutter issues?" The reply was "EVERYONE!!!"

Yeah, played a little before and got crappy performance here too. Laggy and jittery movement every few seconds. Looks like crap too unlike Medal of Honor (which was short but no performance issues and looked great).

PC wise, these lagging issues will likely disappear when newer drivers are released.
Mine ordered from the Egg won't be here until by Friday, can't wait to try it on s3d myself.

Getting a pretty solid 91 fps and you can see my textures. This is with everything cranked up 19x12.

Thanks for posting these. These do look quite a bit worse than what I was expecting. That coupled with the lag issues people are having makes this game seem a little disappointing.

So I have a 5 year old PC with an opteron 170, 4GB RAM, and a 4850. Rips through MW1 and 2 at maxed settings. Crashes and crawls running black ops.

played a game in the villa and it lagged every few seconds like in SP. then the next map was one set in Vietnam or something and it lagged 3x as bad.

So far I'm not liking it as much as MW2. Maybe once the lag/stutter issue is resolved I'll enjoy it more. this is almost like watching a slide show whereas MW2 runs so smooth on max settings.

One thing though, the weapons so far sound kind of weak.

the lag sucks. Often, like clockwork are slight stutters... once in a while it seems like it stutters for a second or more.

ok took the 360 version back traded it in towards the PC version..

not having any bad issues at all.. SP and Bots run like glass.. MP very playable but every once in a while it lags..
watching system monitor only during loading does the CPU really work hard..
this is a i7 920 with dual EVGA 460s FTWs
and it could be optomized better but its 100% playable with no horrid lag or hesitations.

glad I traded in.. too bad BO basically cost me 100 bucks though.

Core i7 920, 6gb, ati 5850.

haven't tried SP yet, but in MP I get smooth framerates but every 30 seconds though I get a stutter. It's far from unplayable though, in fact I'm having a blast.

Same basic specs except that I have 12GB in my system running at 1680x1050 and I'm seeing similar results to yours.
