Call of Duty 7 Details?

[Mar 29, 2010, 10:52 am ET] - 12 Comments
Reports are surfacing with purported details on the upcoming seventh installment in Activision's Call of Duty series of military first-person shooters, long rumored to be set in Vietnam. The game will reportedly be set between World War II and the present day and will carry the title Call of Duty: Black Ops, with some missions played from the side of Britain's SAS. Metro.co.uk (thanks Joker961) has a story about this saying: "The Treyarch-developed shooter is rumoured to take gamers across the planet, including missions set in Cuba and South America, according to Call of Duty website experts Tek9, who have talked to 'undisclosed sources at Activision'," though we can't actually find this on TEK9, and Computer and Video Games has a similar report attributed to "undisclosed sources at Activision" via mapmodnews.com, which is down at the moment. Computer and Video Games also says these reports indicate the game is to have dedicated server support, which was absent from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, much to the unhappiness of PC gamers.

Good. Hopefully they won't follow Battlefield and make it so only certain approved hosts can host dedicated servers.

as long as they do stupid shit like charge people more $$ for maps, items, etc. and price their games at 60$ i wont buy any of them.

so really i could care less if the game has dedicated servers.. i probably wont buy it regardless. they have already shown their true colors as greedy fucks.

They should come up with a new fucking idea. Call of Duty has about jumped the shark. The graphics are already about as good as they get in MW2. There's no need to keep pushing out sequels that add virtually nothing to the table other than a new name and 5 new features.

The problem with this is that it is Treyarch, not IW. Treyarch games aren't as good as IW games, the the point is moot. if it was an IW game, then they might have something to be happy about.

I like COD WaW, but it being treyarch, it's highly unlikely the game engine will be improved. Instead, we'll get yet again the same game (this time it'll probably be modeled after MW2's perk/killstreak system).

I like the call of duty series, but I can't help but feeling robbed when they charge so much for the game, but did little to improve it. COD needs a new game engine... destructable environments are all the rage right now, that'd be a start.

well, hold on a second. Didn't Treyarch make United Offensive.

IMO this is still by far the best COD EVER. But that's just me.

wtf do you mean "nope"? you asked the question and i answered it. just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean it is right. this is how the people who wrote the article are getting CoD7.

then the other answer is that there is no CoD 5 and 6.

The question was rhetorical, because there is no CoD 5 or 6. Show me where they CoD WaW says CoD 5 on the box or on promotional material. What you're calling CoD 6 is CoD MW2. Should we correctly call if CoD MW2 6? Obviously not.

It's not like they'll ever go back to the numbering scheme anyway, so what fucking difference does it make if we call it COD7?

Time and time again, shows that your opinion means nothing.

CODWAW is COD5 and MW2 is COD6. Anyone who argues otherwise is an idiot just arguing semantics.

No, you should call it CoD6: MW2.

Besides, I'm not the one calling it that. I'm just telling you how they got 7 for fuck's sake. It's going to be the 7th CoD game.

Ah I remember those days, games actually had expansion packs and they only set you back $25. You got to keep your base character and acquire some new guns/abilities.

So how could Treyarch screw that up? It was an expansion :)

Remember the big thing back then were dead cows? Dang we got destructables now, woohoo!
